- I personally have one sun conure named Syren.
My boyfriend who I live with has 2 quakers named Sully and Marty.
I also have a chihuaha named Stewart.
Hello!!
My name is Beth and I am super excited to be a bird mommy again!
I recently adopted a new "Feather baby"
A 3-week old Sun Conure named Syren.
I May have a few questions about Hand-rearing as I come up with them.
When I was in highschool my dad bought me a catalina macaw when he found out he had cancer, and I hand fed him. After my father passed away we had to rehome him due to an issue with our home with Chinese drywall and black mold.
After that I worked at a pet store where I hand fed Baby Cockatoos and Macaws and Amazons... everything smaller than that was taken care of before they came in.
(Also before then... I had never even heard of aspiration and all of the dangers...)
I am now in my "late 20's" and felt it was time to be a bird mommy again.
I am 100% infatuated with my new baby.
We plan on getting Syren DNA tested for gender... and I have only had him/her a week but we can't wait to see what colors he/she will be!
I'll be a little honest hand feeding is a lot more work with a Conure than a Macaw. LOL
The nibbles hurt a lot less though.
xD
Anyhow! I am happy to be here. I hope I didn't bore anyone with my back story...
I am desperate for friends that are also bird parents! It's nice to meet all of you! <3
