Hi!
Hi I'm susan from California, I'm a newbie macaw owner. I brought my 20 year old blue and gold macaw home (to an apartment, by the way) last wednesday. I have had my CGC conure and BW pionus for a year and previously owned a Senegal and Sunday conure.
His name is Romeo and my pious is bailey and my conure is messi
apparently his previous owner hit him in the head with a bird toy and blew his eye out but i dont call him a rescue i call him my new room mate :)
he's been home since wednesday and im taking it really slow. I love him already

Hello, welcome to the forum.
That is horrible that someone would hit an animal. I'm glad someone got him out of there!

i get really sad when i hear him say "No!!!" and "shut up!" and "shut up mother f***ker" what should i do when he says that stuff i'm afraid he's thinking of bad memories. i say positive things and a nice tone when he does it, but should i just ignore him?

Thats sad :( Im so glad he found you. Give him time and lots of love. With time he should cut back on the bad talk. Keep teaching and talking to him. Just be overly enthusiastic with the new words and he will want to repeat them.

Thank You for giving him a new home :)

Poor Romeo! I wanna cry after reading that. I am so glad that he is out of that awful situation. I hope whoever did that to him gets what's coming to them! Give him an extra snuggle for me!

Also, where in California are you? I'm about an hour northish of LA. :)

Sounds like you're doing a great job! :)

I just found this post. What a sad story. I'm so glad Romeo is with you now! I don't know if he will ever stop saying the bad things that were said to him, but he might in time. I hope so as I'm sure it makes you feel bad. Do what you can to teach him new, nice things to say I guess.
