Hello everyone. I actually signed up yesterday, but I decided to do my welcome post today. I have never owned a bird until about 2 months ago. My husband's uncle had 4 birds, an Amazon(Dora), 2 monk parakeets(Monk and Ike),and a sun conure(Sunshine). Before he passed away, he asked that we take one of the birds and he said he did not mind which one. His twin took Dora (which I was in love with how awesome she is) and we took Sunshine. She is a truly beautiful bird and I love how she can sit with us and enjoy spending time with the family. We are still trying to get used to her and have her used to us. I know it takes some time, so any information would be greatly appreciated. We did take her to the Vet and had her wings, beak, and nails trimmed for the sake of our skin. Our son, Cayleb(4yrs.) loves her so much and everyday when he gets off the bus she shouts until he gives her a treat. Its quite cute!
Signing up for this site seemed like the best thing to do so we can get to know more about birds, because we have adopted one and my husband wants one that actually talks. So far it is a great site and I can't wait to become more involved!
