Hello, My name is Nikki and last Saturday I welcomed a wonderful 1 year old Pineapple Green Cheek Conure into my home named Shado. I haven't had a DNA test done yet, so I don't know if Shado is a boy or girl, but I think he's a boy. At the pet store, Shado was very shy, but that is certainly not the case anymore. Shado is a very talkative bird (no human words yet though) and a huge cuddle monster! It only took 3 days for Shado to become attached and want to be on my shoulder or chest all the time. He also loves to be petted on his head and neck! Seriously, all this little birdie wants to do is cuddle and be loved ALL THE TIME. As soon as I open his cage, he's on my hand and crawling up to my shoulder. It's sweet and I'm so happy he's taken to me so well.

Shado is a very well mannered conure, he hasn't tried to bite and any nipping (which is rare) is stopped with a firm "NO." Shado is also great with my family and is very kind to strangers. I'm very fortunate to have found such a sweetie.

I have no serious complaints or concerns about Shado. Though I do wish he wanted to hang out in his very large cage and play with all the toys I bought him! Like I said, all this bird wants to do is cuddle.

Shado is my first parrot, so I have a lot to learn. I have had a dove in the past, but they are 2 very different birds. I'm sure I'll be asking questions soon, and thank you for taking the time to read this!

He has some blueberry on his beak still!

Hello Nikki, Welcome to the forum! Adorable pics of your new friend. Sounds like you have a little sweetheart.

Hello and welcome!
Shado is beautiful, what adorable pics:)
I'm glad you joined us.

I can barely get mine to eat blueberries, so far he really demands raspberries and he'll have nothing else fresh. He likes dried fruit and nuts, and freaks out over sunflower seeds which I've read aren't great for him. Is that right everyone? Too many sunflower seeds are bad?

Anyway, welcome to the forum and congrats on your new little buddy. Conures are great fun, wonderful little birds. Little clowns who dance around like big goofs :)
