Hello from the desert of Las Vegas. I have recently adopted a Amazon Parrot just looking for somewhere is can land once in a while to get some info and advice on my boy Gordo. Never had a bird in my life only had dogs so I got hubby a bird for his birthday this year (something he can't give away) and a new addition to our family. All our kids are grown and out of the nest -pun intended- instead of getting a new dog we thought a bird may be a good addition.
So far Gordo is rather quiet, not much talking yet but it has only been 2 weeks we have had him. This morning he woke up rather grumpy like he slept on the wrong side of the cage, did some reading and I guess he must be molting and moody-I guess its kind of like having PMS.
We have found out he likes a few favorite foods but really likes my plate to eat off at breakfast and dinner, no biggie I eat like a bird anyhow so he eats my food and looks like I cleaned my plate lol.
So far Gordo has been a joy to have can't wait to see if he starts talking to know what he can and can't say. Hoping its not a bunch of cuss words:11: That would ruffle my feathers then. So far its just a process of getting to know you. Any advice anyone has would be of great help. I will be checking on different threads for tips and tricks.
sincerely Gordos new mommy
