Hi everyone, i am new here and so glad to join you all. I live in Manchester in the united kingdom and work for the health service. I had a lovebird for 7 years and loved him so much but unfortunately he flew off due to a very silly and unintentional accident and couldn't come back. we live in woodlands and her flew to a very high tree and couldn't descend because he was never used to these heights and went from one tree to the other until he disappeared. i continued to follow him for an hour!
Now i am getting a new one, a male, which has hatched 6 weeks ago and waiting for the breeder to give me the date for collection. I am very exited but need to tame him and dont have much experience with that so feel a bit anxious. I have a few questions which i will post in order to get prepared.
thanks in advance for your help
Al

Welcome, very sorry to hear your lovebird flew away. Please ensure your new budgie is fully weaned before adoption!

I am not familiar with lovebirds and would recommend reading threads in the Lovebird Forum. A current one discussing training: http://www.parrotforums.com/lovebirds/87473-new-lovebirds-need-taming.html

Tips for bonding and building trust is a generic thread for the basics: http://www.parrotforums.com/general-parrot-information/49144-tips-bonding-building-trust.html

Good luck, please post specific questions as desired!
