Hello. I thought I would say hello to the forum!
I don't currently have a bird, but I've been doing many weeks of homework, research and thinking about getting a new feathery friend. My recent mini-campanion, Fry (He was a rat) died this Christmas Eve. It kind of set into motion further contemplation. It's only been a few days but I miss him hanging out with me. He never left my side. He lived to be near 5, though. (that's very old for a critter like him) and he was deaf, half blind and walked with an old man wobble.. Hehe. But I digress..
We (my hubby and I) would love to someday have a larger parrot. We do not plan on ever having children. So the parrot would indeed be our baby. But for now we are torn between a parrotlet or a conure. We're still doing research on both. And I hope to finally come to a conclusion after reading posts here on the forum.
I have owned a bird before. When I was 8 my mother agreed to let me get a cockatiel. She was my BFF. Hehe. I had her for about 8 years before she fell ill. We lived in a very small town back then and the vet in town didn't see birds. Sadly she passed away.
I have also handled/worked with birds in the past. So they are not completely estrange to me! Hehe. I have come across far more mean birds than nice. I work part time right now and I have a lot of time to spend with a new buddy. But first I need to settled on what buddy I would like. Get a cage, toys, food, books, and read about the little guy I want.
I'm ranting.
