This morning I got a dreaded phone call that Nelson had passed away over night. He had been his usual self on Sunday and I fed him as usual Monday morning before work. When I got home at lunchtime I noticed he hadn't touched his food, had been sneezing and has a discharge from his nose and his poop was unusual. I tried to give him some of his favorite warm mash and he took a couple of bites then declined. He was so quiet. I took him to the bird specialist vet straight after work and he went downhill so quickly just from the time we left home until the vet was able to see him. They kept him in overnight in the incubator but unfortunately it was too late. They think it was psittacosis so I am taking Barry in for testing this afternoon although he seems himself and also notified his breeder. He was only just 5 months old. I am now very worried for Barry, I couldn't bare to lose them both!
Rest easy Nelson. I will bury him under the big tree I had to climb to get him out of with the first passionfruit from my vine, I was so excited for the first one so I could share it with him and Barry.
