harrisons?

Would this be the appropriate harrisons bird feed for my conure? Can I also feed it to my cockatiel? I see there is a "fine" version and "course" version?

The fine pellets are for conures, cockatiels, and smaller parrots, so I would go for those (there is a chart on the back of the bag that tells you which birds they are for)

I would definitely go with the 'fine'. The coarse are for larger parrots (like amazons, macaws etc) while the superfine and mash is for the smaller birds (budgeis, canaries, finches etc).

The "fine" is the perfect size for conures and cockatiels. When I had my Peaches, she and Skittles both ate the 'high potency fine'. That is what is recommended to start with. You can eventually change them over to the 'adult formula fine' after six months but I just stuck with the HP fine.

Peaches and Skittles took right to the Harrisons. But not all birds will, so be sure your birds ARE in fact eating. Best way to tell is by physical exam (examining the breastbone to see that there is 'meat' on either side as the bird food dish can be misleading (ie if they are throwing it on the floor etc).

Thanks guys, peanut is 3 years old, but was recently rehomed to me. Jazz is 6 or so months and I think is about to molt for the first time.

No Abigail, you're not paranoid. I'm the same way. But you can get that info from the mysafebirdstore. If I couldnt' get that info, I'd stick to Harrisons themselves. But I just call the MSBS and they can tell me the exp dates of the pellets I'll be ordering. Harrisons did verify that the MSBS is a valid seller.

I actually called Harrisons to confirm that the mysafebirdstore was a reputable seller before I ordered from them for the first time last year. lol
