Harrison's, Lafeber or Zupreem?

I'm feeding my budgies, Mickey & Pluto, Harrison's pellets I bought from the vet when I took them for the first visit, but for Halo and Kiwi, I'm feeding them what Halo's previous owner gave me, Kaytee Rainbow mixed with seeds. I have been reading online and found out that colored food isn't healthy, so I am looking for pellets with no food coloring to switch them to. Should I stick with Harrison's? I heard Harrison's, Lafeber and Zupreem are quality pellet manufactures. Which one is the best? Which one do you guys choose? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

They're all quality pellets! To me, eating pellets is better then no pellets. Compared to seeds alone, it's better! So if they're already eating Harrison's, why bother to change? A lot of folks probably would say Harrison's is the best, but not me.....I drive by their company on a daily basis and I'm not about to use their product anytime soon. Their office is located right here.....

yeah, I guess Harrison's is fine. it took the budgies some time to convert from seeds to pellets with seeds, but they eventually started eating the pellets.. so I guess Halo and Kiwi would too
decreasing the portion of seeds for the budgies gradually, will do the same to Halo and Kiwi..

I use Zuprem, not a fan AT ALL of the smell of the natural ones. I prefer the fruit ones but my parakeets are given both and will eat both types.They're more reluctant on the natural ones but they eat it.

Gizmo is still on seeds but is slowly being converted to Harrison's and the Fruit Zuprem for medium sized birds.

I'm looking at Zupreem's website now. they do have colored ones.. the fruity ones. only the natural one isn't colored.. but it looks very nutritious to me with all the vegetables, vitamins and minerals

I'm feeding them Lafeber's Avi-Cakes, it could be easy for them to eat its pellet products too I guess

looked at the ingredients and price, interesting that they are using different types of oil... Lafeber uses canola oil, Zupreem uses vegetable oil, Harrison's uses sunflower oil..Zupreem has more veggie and fruits and it's cheaper out of all 3.. I guess I will get Zupreem

All of mine now prefer zupreem. I mix the natural with a little bit of fruit ones. They will also eat roudybush pretty good and I mix the daily with the california blend. They will eat harrisons but prefer the others. Zupreem does have some that are colored but they are not artificial coloring...I believe it is the avian entree line...but we haven't tried that yet. Their favorite remains the fruit blend.

mine have been on the harrison,s totally organic,dutch pellets,optibird and the zupreem natural,in the end i had to go back on the zupreem fruit blend simply cause they refused everything except that,so 1 year and a lot of cash later am am back in phase one.
somebody once told me,that the pellet your bird will eat is the best pellet for them since it is simply better then no pellet at all.

BTW...I contacted Harrison's, Roudybush, Zupreem and Lafeber through email and asked for samples. I received 2 samples from Roudybush of different size pellets. I received an email from Zupreem saying they don't send samples out anymore, however, they do offer a money back guarantee. I have not heard back from the other 2 yet. I heard Lafeber has a really great sample package so I hope they send it. I haven't tried their pellets yet (but my fids all like the nutriberries) so it would be nice to try it before I buy it.

I will mix the Zupreem natural with the Kaytee Rainbow for conversion, then will try the entree line too...never heard of Roudybush..

true, that's why my friend is feeding Kaytee Rainbow cuz it's still pellet haha

Bought Zupreem natural and Zupreem avian entree last night
fed the kids natural this morning and Kiwi started to eat it right away, Halo, Mickey and Pluto weren't eating yet..will see when I get home after work
So I guess the conversion isn't hard

What do you have against Harrison's? I do not use it either for a variety of reasons. The most important one is once it leaves their warehouse, who knows how it has been handled.

I had a total disaster with Harrison - my birds wouldn't touch them even soaked. They eat Zupreem fine pellets soaked in the juice plus seeds. They all came from seed diet and I wasn't able to change that. I also find Harrison fine are way too large pellets even for my gcc.
I think the best pellets are those that your bird will actually eat!

I use a mix. Right now I'm trying a Dr Foster's mix that has some pellets in it along with natural and fruit zupreem. I have Harrison's but no one will touch them so I use them to bake bird bread.
