Very close but not quite. Of course being a rescue the parents may not have been purebred and the pic makes him look chubby.
HINT
One of the dogs in this pic is a grown up version..

Is it an Italian Greyhound?

I'm going to say Chihuahua mix, maybe with Min Pin

Not all greyhounds are medium/large dogs...

3 Breeds

And I think that's the breed I'd go with, too.

Read it wrong then. =] Was thinking the greyhound breed appeared too large for the pup!

i almost see dachshund/chihuahua traits, but a little more stocky in the body....hmm

why don't we all say it's a mix :)

:DPeeker wins

Its an italian greyhound pup..He is a bit big but thats okay, might be a touch of something else in it.
We have 5 italians total, the smallest is 8lbs the biggest is 13lbs. All of them rescued from horrible conditions but one, which was adopted from an IG rescue.

Our biggest was rescued from a backyard at 4-5 mnths old in 6 degree weather with several dead siblings and frozen water and no human contact and only a truck topper for shelter, with no hay or blankets or anything..She is our biggest baby and sweetest too.
The second(the one with the chihuahua) was an ex breeder with a torn uterus and had to be spayed right away,.
The third was adopted from a rescue.
And the two new baby boys were exiled to a pen in a barn with two foot of feces to stand in...My oldest son took the other baby boy in, he was smaller and looked more iggy then ours. But the other one was more high strung and their house is much quieter so they took him.

In the last ten years weve only adopted out two igs and kept the rest for ourselves(we dont do very good with the adopting out part). But I know we cant keep them all.

Yay! I thought so, but then he is a bit thick and looks to be a mix. You've taken in some dogs seriously in need of rescue! I've worked Chinese Crested rescue before and ended up adopting twice. One was an older hairless gal on meds for dry eye and seizures. We were lucky enough to have her for a year and a half before she passed on. The other was a 3 year old that happened to fit in extremely well with my other two dogs and she is still going strong. She just turned 7.

I like the chinese cresteds too.The female that was the ex breeder has seizures as well but not so often as to need meds.
I LOVE italian greyhounds and cant for the life of me figure out why people expect these dogs to do well outdoors?
We call the vet on Monday to get him neutered..Poor little guy has so much to get used to but is doing very well.He is about 3 mnths old and had never been out of the pen he was in with his brother and his mom.

Another pic of him settling in quite nicely.
Im pretty impressed at how people oriented he is being so unsocialized. He loves my 12yo son and follows him around and now sleeps with him too.He looks bigger in the pic that he actually is.He is the same size as my little chihuahua who is a shorty.
