Green cere??

Hia all

A while ago a made a thread about my female budgie’s cere turning blue, and questioned her gender. Now her cere is light beige around her nostrils and it’s turning green?? I’ve never read about ceres turning green. I believe it’s normal for female budgies’ cere to change color, but not to green. I hope she isn’t sick or anything. Has anyone here ever seen a green cere?

She seems to be going into breeding condition. The cere will likely go crusty brown soon.

It's a female...

It's not actually green, but rather a shade of blue. Male Budgies have a SOLID BLUE CERE, however, if there are white/cream colored rings around the nostrils and the rest of the cere is blue or purple, then it's a female. That's the situation with your budgie, definitely a female, apparent by the light rings around her nostrils.

As stated above, when female budgies go into breeding season and their hormones start raging, their ceres tend to turn completely tan, then to a dark brown, and at that point they become extremely dark brown, very thick, and very crusty. And they will stay that way until they come back out of breeding season and their hormones calm down, and at that point they will again turn to a light cream/tan color, and then eventually back to the blue/green/purple with the white or light tan rings around the nostrils..So all of your budgie's cere color changes have been normal for a female budgie who has been growing/aging, then going into breeding season, then back out...
