If anyone is super interested in putting our heads together to find out some fun and interesting info on our zons, we should start a "Amazon Project" group in the groups section. I think compiling, organizing and inputing data about know amazon species could yield some fascinating insight into the species as a whole. PM me if theres any interest.

I think I may order this and a couple of other amazon books when I get paid. Be a really cool project. I'll see about scanning the images in and posting them on my web server and see if I can start to start profiling them and seeing what patterns have occurred.

April, correct me if I just walked off the cliff, but I believe that there is a specific book that targets just the known Amazons. I saw it years ago! That would be a much better source document.

Love the idea! I'm going to check with my local Parrot Club for the Amazon book.

I found this one:

Not sure if that's what your looking for, but I was debating on grabbing that one when I get paid also.

Yaaa, that's it!!!! FYI: Please let me background this book prior to your investing in it!!!

April, I'm in with this project!!!

I am only an admirer of the incredible Amazons, not a parront so I just want to say that this is a very interesting thread and the idea for a project is brilliant. Please share your progress with all of us.

Just wanting to add that Millie too, has a very large section of blue that is in the region of her vent. Infact, she has a very blue sheen all the way down her front that links to the section near her vent. She is one very blue, blue fronted amazon. :) I am also in for the project.

I found this thread and I am still confused about which subspecies Kizzy belongs to. She does have some yellow on the wing like xanthopteryx, but the pattern of blue on her front and face is much like that of aestiva. I'd like a look at her parents. Maybe she's half and half?

Is the aestiva subspecies smaller? That would explain why Kizzy is petite.

These blue fronts at a feeder in Brazil resemble Kizzy. What subspecies are they? I looked to see where the peach-fronted conure's and blue-fronted Amazon's territories overlap and the answer was pretty much "everywhere." :)
