Sun conure
Got a sun conure yesterday, I’m letting her adjust to the new environment so I was expecting her to not be screaming or eating but she’s doing both, really happy she’s eating but i’m worried the screaming and hanging from one foot from the top of the cage means something is wrong, is this normal?

Did you know how LOUD sun conures scream before you got one? They are epically loud sometimes. I read an article somewhere about loud parrots and what decibel levels they can reach. Sun Conures, bless their beautiful feathered hearts, were pretty close to the top. You will need to get used to it or use earplugs.

The good news is that acrobatics and screaming are totally normal.
That said, you should find an avian vet and schedule a new parrot visit for a baseline health check. It's very important that you establish a relationship with an avian vet so you will have somewhere to take your bird if he needs medical care.
You will be able to get appointments faster if your bird is an existing patient.
Enjoy your new baby!

Yes lol I knew what I was getting into with the screaming but wasn’t expecting it so soon i’m currently looking for a good avian vet nearby so all good thank you!

I am proud and disgruntled to claim that my Patagonian is also a world-famous noise machine!!!!
Yeas, good ideas above@
If you're looking for a true avian vet...

Certified Avian Vets
If none are near you...
Avian Veterinarians
In my opinion, any of the vets listed here should be better than a regular vet.
International contacts, too.
If none are near you, maybe you could call and ask for a recommendation for somebody in your area.
And... sometimes, distant vets will offer brief thoughts or advice...
Or... sometimes I find a place to start just by Googling "avian veterinarian near ((your location))"
Or maybe a local breeder might help... again, maybe Google?

Another thread on on vets from Terry57...

I'm glad you two are here!
