- My first bird was a parakeet named Buddy (passed away November 8, 2012). My newest friend is a parakeet named Chipper.
Sorry I didn't post an update sooner. I did take Chipper to the vet on Tuesday, and the doctor said he's fine.
Right before I took him to the vet, I noticed that he felt like he might have gained weight back. As it turns out, he actually has gained weight since the last time he was at the vet. He weighs 40 grams now! I know that's probably too heavy, but I don't know how accurate their scale is. But the doctor checked him very thoroughly, and she said that his weight feels good. She checked everything...his mouth, beak, feathers, wings, tail, feet, everything. She said he has good feather quality and his skin looks good. That makes me feel a lot better, because he is growing new feathers and those looked good too...so that means apparently he doesn't have any major vitamin deficiencies. (Even though he's so picky about his food and won't eat vegetables!)
I have the little feather butt with me right now, he's sitting on my shoulder as I'm typing this.
