Sprite the cinnamon green cheek conure.
Hi everyone,
Haven't been on here in a long time! Not sure if anyone remembers me :) Anyway, Sprite is REALLY picky as (unfortunately :/ ) he was weaned onto a seed diet. I've been feeding him a mix of the Goldenfeast Petite Hookbill Legume Blend and TOP pellets, of course he prefers the seed mix over the pellets. I really want to try and get him AWAY from seeds completely though. Does anyone give their birds the Goldn'Obles? I would hate to order them and have him hate them. Just wondering if anyone had birds that liked/hated these. Thanks!
p.s. Any tips to get Sprite eating vegetables SEND THEM MY WAY

Did you try mixing the seeds WITH the veggies? He'll eat the seeds and get a taste of the veggies along with it. You can also take his seeds and SPROUT them making them very nutritious. Conures NEED a bit of seeds (in any form) in their diet so i would recommend not to take them away completely!

I have heard of the Goldn'obles but have never tried them.

These are the ingredients in the Golden feast legume blend, much more than seed, and it's all natural. I usually add uncooked quinoa, almond flour (calcium), and lentils to mine. I don't think seeds are bad for birds, as long as they're eating other things too. Maybe let him sit and eat with you at meal times. Perhaps if he sees you eating veggies or something, that will inspire him to eat it too. It's working for me. I notice mine is eating the seeds, but the tiny granules of the other food is getting in his beak as well, which is a good thing.

Ingredients: Canary Grass Seed, roasted unsalted Almonds, hulled Oats, Sunflower Kernels, white proso Millet, Cantaloupe Seed, natural Sesame Seed, Black Sesame Seed, roasted Soybeans, roasted rolled Corn, sterile Hemp Seed, roasted unsalted Cashews, Cranberries, Blueberries and Goji Berries, Japanese Millet, freeze dried Honey, freeze dried Molasses Flakes, Pineapple, Mango, Red Siberian Millet, Green Cabbage, Granola made with whole Wheat, Brown Sugar, Canola Oil, natural Coconut, Sweet Dairy Whey, Oat Flour, roasted Almonds and Honey. Fine Cracked Corn, Wildflower Seeds, Canola Seeds, Caraway Seeds, Carrots, freeze dried Sweet Corn, Cherries, cooked and dehydrated assorted Beans, Parsley, Dates, Papaya, Basil, Soy Nuts, Pecans, Wheat Germ, Bee Pollen, Cranberry Seeds, Orange Peel Granules, Bentonite Crumbles, natural Fruit Flavors.

He also eats the Australia blend too from Goldenfeast, and I've been grinding up pellets for him, so they're more the consistency of seed. Here's the Australian blend.

Ingredients: Roasted Cashews, Almonds and Soybeans, Raw Sunflower Kernels, Canary Grass Seed, Japanese Millet, Canola Seed, Flax Seed, White Proso Millet, Golden German Millet, Black Sesame Seed and Natural Sesame Seed, Red Siberian Millet, Blueberries, Sterile Hemp Seed, Niger Seed, Caraway Seed, Hulled Oats, Carrots, Wheat Germ, Whole Egg Solids, Papaya, Cranberry Seeds, Cranberries, Pineapple, Cantaloupe Seed, Whole Wheat, Green Cabbage, Lettuce Seed, Wildflower Seed, Chamomile Flowers, Poppy Seed, Ground Anise Seed, Orange Peel, Soy Flour, Bentonite Crumbles, Natural Honey and Cane Molasses, Fennel Seed, Apples, Paprika, Freeze-Dried Sweet Corn and Freeze-Dried Sweet Peas, Parsley, Whole Bee Pollen, Spirulina, Spinach, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Casei Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Plantarum Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus Fermentation Product, Dried Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Bifidobacterium Longum Fermentation Product, Natural Anise and Fruit Flavor Extracts. Does Not Contain Peanuts.

I feed my girls the Golden Obles sometimes mixed with their normal pellets, if I am to be away from home for the day. They LOVE them ! They gobble them up before touching the normal pellets. Order a small one pound bag from MSBS and see if Sprite takes to them. It is cheaper to try by the pound at first.

Where did you get them from? MSBC has really high shipping charges.

Thanks.

I did get from MSBC. The shipping was outrageous but I had 10% off and w/ that it was still cheaper per pound than buying from the store near me. And the place near me doesn't have Goldn'Obles. But for future reference, are there any other good online places I can get Goldenfeast rather than Goldenfeast Direct? MSBC also had some really cheap toys that I wanted to get Sprite :)

High shipping?? I rarely pay for shipping as I usually buy more than $75. However, when I did order less, I never paid more than $9.......I don't think it's "outrageous"......especially counting the free foot toys and candies (for me) that she includes with each order......

Well, if you're buying a lot, then it's okay, but if you just want one pound of food, it's a bit expensive. It encourages you to buy more than you have to. I have some really great pet stores near me, so I don't need to buy much online except the occasional 'hard to get' bird food.

Yes I have to say that I buy everything online. And I buy mostly from MSBS so I make a list and order all at once.....and when I'm a bit short for free shipping, it's reeaalllyyy easy to add a couple of toys to reach it ;)
