Hey everyone!

Thanks for all the support and suggestions :)
Good thinking Laurasea, It will be impossible for me to get him to a vet before Christmas now. If he doesn’t improve much by over the next few days I will 100% take him to the vets on Friday!

No name yet Tami!.. I don’t want to jinx things, however if he is still with us by tonight I shall give him a name :D and I agree, it should be something to do with his luck! And yes I do hope Sunny was part of this rescue!

Hahhaaa Noodles!! YESS he does remind me of Paulette:18: he also looks like a tawny frog mouth (Australian Bird) with his angry eyes!

He woke me up doing a a few squawks this morning, and I heard him climbing down from his perch. When I came out he was sitting on the bottom of the cage, he might have been pecking at the bit of seed sown there but not sure, I put some peas in the cage..he tried one.
I got some water down him and a couple of syringes of food but he refused to take anymore. I sat him on my lap for a little while for some comfort as he likes to climb up in-front of my face and fall asleep looking at me.. with his grumpy face!
Got one more syringe down him before I had to leave for work.
Jon gave him another one an hour later before he left to go shopping.
He’s on his way home now and I hope to hear good news when he gets home in about half an hour.. fingers crossed.
On my way to work I stopped off at a feed store (Small country town, no pet shop or vet) and picked this stuff up, do you think it will be any good? I also grabbed some bigger syringes from the pharmacy..

Oh and sadly that horse died last night :( Complications from heat stroke we’re guessing.

Very sorry the horse passed last night. Mr. Sulphur needs to beat the odds and spread some needed cheer.

Thank you Scott, he was only a youngster who was recently trapped a couple of months ago from the wild. He’d been struggling since he arrived. He hadn’t been tamed by us yet, so at least he died wild where his heart belonged.

I was starting to feel horribly anxious about Mr. Too.. Jon just phoned and said all is well! He even looks quite perky.. phew! I’ll be finished work in an hour or so, can’t wait to get home to see him :D

You could call him something to do with a Christmas miracle? I don't know if you celebrate it or not, just a suggestion.

Timmy, Noel, etc :) so glad he continues to do well!

Since he looks angry all the time you could call him Agro - after a much-loved and quite naughty puppet character from Aussie television whom you are WAY too young to remember :)

Loving the name suggestions!
I’m saying ‘him’ but of course I don’t actually know what sex (s)he is!

He’s had a bit of the hand rearing formula, not eating as much as I’d like him to today though. He’s still very sleepy

I'm so sorry to hear about the horse's death, Hannah. It's always devastating to see such a large animal fail to fight on. :(

Just keep on what you're doing with the Mr Cocky. Since he's taking food and water, I think the main worry is whatever parasite load he might have. Only a vet can fix that, so sit tight and try not to worry. :)

Since birdie has white 'hair', I think you should call him either 'Witcher' or 'Geralt'. Just sayin'. :D

I have absolutely no experience to share with you but am really impressed with what you are doing and full of awe. No matter what happens I can't imagine that he would have lasted much longer outside, and it looks as though he already trusts you and knows that you are helping him. It's so impressive.

Thanks guys!

He’s just had a big feed which I’m very pleased about! His poops don’t indicate to me that he has parasites, But of course there is a high chance he has. Either way, I think I’m going to phone the vets tomorrow (if they’re open) and book an appointment for Thursday or Friday. And possibly only if I can see the apparent ‘exotics and bird specialist’ whom I’ve NEVER been able to book. Or one of the nice two lady vets I’ve seen recently as I’d trust them to take tests. But I won’t see another vet. Totally lost trust in the vets..

This article popped up on my facebook feed today. It might explain how your Cocky came to be sitting by the trough and in such a bad way.

WARNING: distressing photos at the beginning. The text is worth reading, though.

My friend was telling me about this tonight! How awful!
I found this guy struggling the day before the heat, He must have lost his parents a few days before and then on the heatwave day it was all too much for him.

OMG That is is sad....I'm sure that was what happened...if both died, or even if one died and the other was sick, they could have easily gotten separated and stopped feeding him (either as a result of the heat, or something else)...But its a really hazardous world out there for birds (between farmers and property owners who want them dead, cars, predators, diseases, weather etc).

He passed away this morning

Oh no, I’m so sorry Hannah! These horrible weather conditions and fires are taking such a terrible toll on wildlife and people. You gave him your best care but he would have already been highly compromised. You are so strong but this is just heartbreaking, I’m so sorry for the losses you have suffered lately!

That extremely sad to hear, you did try.

He passed away this morning

Oh man...I am so sorry. That made me cry.
I can't imagine how it would have been if you hadn't found him though,
I hate that he passed, but I love that he was with you (and clearly was comfortable with you).

So hard...Amazing how they can steal your heart even after just a few days.

Thank you for caring--you really did so much more than most and I think you are destined to do something with rescuing parrots! They love you!!!

I really wish we could find out what was wrong...I mean, I know stress and heat can take a toll, but it is hard to wonder what happened...

I feel awful, It’s my fault I should have made him eat more but he refused.
It’s all too much, I wish I could give Sunny a cuddle.
