So, like everyone else I was pretty busy over the holidays, and as much as I cooked, none of it was at home. I plan to make it up to the birds as soon as I can!
I call this, my get out of jail free card.
I believe I get it from Acme (I shop between there and Giant but I don't remember Giant having this specific mix) and it's a great mix to serve to the birds when I'm really not in the mood to cook a big complicated meal.
Tonight I made pasta for myself, and while it was cooking, microwaved the veggie mix with some added frozen corn and zucchini, and microwaved some sweet potatoes that I mashed up, mixed it all in a bowl, added about two tablespoons of seed mix and dried hot peppers and when my pasta was finished, added a bunch of that in too.
I always try to keep my freezer stocked with frozen veggies and fruit for the birds, because it's often cheaper, and I can get better variety with no prep time. All my birds eat it, thankfully, and you can really toss in whatever you have on hand.
Of course I prefer to feed fresh, but I'm quite a bit of a night owl and I don't like running my food processor at 3am when making a batch of food for the next day or two!
