What fruits and veggies should I try and stick to for my new YNA to keep him happy and healthy? Also what particular fruits and veggies did your amazons like?? Any feedback would be awesome!

Familiarize yourself with toxic foods (avocado, onions, mushrooms and a few other are NOT safe), but past being toxic, as much variety as your bird will go for! Try to keep a balance between fruit and veg. My amazon really likes broccoli, apples, carrots, zucchini, grapes, cucumber, bananas, cherries, berries, pomegranates, citrus fruits, peas, corn, green beans and probably a few others I can't think of off the top of my head. He doesn't like melons, leafy greens or carrots very much, though I sneak those into his food in different ways. As every parrot is an individual, they'll all have their individual likes/dislikes. So long as your bird eats a good variety of fruit and veg, that's whats really important. If there's a few things he promptly rejects, don't worry about it.

I also want to say, I feed my bird lots of plain cooked (no salt, fat or sugar added) grains and beans along with fresh produce, nuts and some seeds. It's a lot healthier than many commercial diets for them to eat (healthy, wholesome) human foods. He is also allowed small amounts of our food, however, it is a fine line between a little table food and them becoming ravenous junk food demanding monsters who refuse anything healthy. Amazons especially are prone to obesity and obesity related health issues. If your bird has no clue how good human food tastes compared to his, I'd strongly suggest you never let him in on the secret;)

Sailboat no, I don't have one now this will be my first one! Just want as much personal experiences from people here as possible before the baby comes home after weaning! Kiwi I'm writing all these down! Hahahaha yes I've already made a list of no go foods and donuts now I'm writing down a list of DO'S lol

Most Amazon's are hearty eaters :D that enjoy a variety of foods.
Amy eats just about anything.

She has a bowl of assorted seeds/nuts but that is just a "snack" bowl for her. I can fill it,and 4 or 5 days later, all I find is a tablespoon worth of spent shells or discarded seed on her mansions floor papers.

Her main nummy bowl is her fav! Many times she will yell into it "FOOD!! FOOD!!!" and then laugh,I think she gets a kick out of hearing her voice echo in the bowl..she does this if I dawdle too long on filling it for her

Todays brekky was the following:

A couple cut pieces of red beets
Corn nibs
Sweet peas
a few pieces of baked 'taters
Scrambled egg with a small piece of cheese melted in
A brussel sprout head
a couple cut up leaves of artichoke
a couple pineapple chunks
A piece of orange
a piece of 'nana
a few 'stashio/cashew/almond/dried raisins
a chicken leg bone
a couple nutraberries

I was amazed to watch her pick up the brussel sprout as she meticulously pulled pieces and ATE them, and not just tear it apart! As with the artichoke leafs..

She eats better than I do
