Hello Hello from Percy and his People!!

Little man is doing incredibly well; such a bright spot in our lives. A little background, heā€™s now (as of yesterday) being switched from nutriberries to Zupreem fruit blend which heā€™s doing well with. Heā€™s 17 weeks old now. The past few days heā€™s been dropping little feathers, mostly down, some ā€œbiggerā€ feathers that still have baby coloring and/or discoloration from bronzing/stress before we got him.

Itā€™s between 80 and 90 degrees here and his ā€œoutsideā€ cage is in a screened in porch. Heā€™s only out there when we are or when weā€™ll be gone for a while (he LOVES his ā€œbig boyā€ cage and chirps when we walk towards the door).

Is it normal for him to be dropping all his ā€œfloofā€ feathers? He still has pin feathers on his head and neck, more seem to come every y couple of days. Itā€™s just funny because heā€™ll preen and then have a fluffy feather stuck to his head or heā€™ll ā€œfloofā€ himself and tiny feathers go everywhere lol. He is not plucking/overpreening as I have been watching for that very diligently from the time I start noticing the feathe floof.

Her are some of the feathers that have come floating out today.

Thanks yā€™all!! Have a lovely day!

Yes. Those are his down feathers and they loose them when moulting as well as the colored bigger ones. Worry not!
