Wow! You're getting really far, really fast with him! I wish I could be home with Atlas all day every day. Still we're making steady progress. Did you get any training material to help you train him or are you just winging it? And what kind of treats do you give him that it only takes him a second to eat!? I'm using almonds, but I think I should get something easier and tastier for him.

I have had a quaker parrot in the past who i taught tricks to, and then before i got fargo i youtubed videos on flight recall i have a few books, but thats just on basic macaw information, not tricks! I havent had a probably with him biting or screaming as of yet, but i have a book about that just incase he starts hehe

I use pecans for training, i crack the nut, there are 2 sides to the nut, i then break those 2 sides in half, so there are 4 long skinny pieces, and then! i snap them all maybe 3 or 4 times, so i have around 12-16 little pieces of treats

LOL............If I tried training one of the GW's like that they would look at me like I was the nut!!!!! ReaRea would give me one of those sideways looks (read: warning) and tell me "telepathically": you DO realize if you don't open your hand and give me ALL of that right now what I'm gonna do to your hands and/or fingers?!?!?! :52::11:

Yes, a case can certainly be made that the truly brilliant birds are those who train YOU to give them precisely what they want, exactly when they want it
