Fargo- Blue and Gold Macaw
You guys are all so sweet!

I am in the middle of listening to a 3 hour lecture, and was checking the forum, and i saw in this 'Which bird would you want a date with' Mister Fargo appears to be a popular boy hahaha

I swear all this popularity will go to his head one day!

You know that Fargo won another competition today

That is 4 competitions this year already! Wow

So anyway, i thought i would post some pictures incase you haven't seen them on Fargo's page!

Tongue!

Kisses

Pretty wings

EVERY MORNING, he sits on my head whilst i study -_-

Scritches

Weirdo sat like this for a while

Helping me study. He sits on top of the laptop and listens to lectures...
and then sits on my hand while i take notes haha

and just getting cuddles

Lastly, being his awesome self..

Because all birds wear a hoodie and hangs upside down hahaha

He is so CUTE

I can never really give updates on Fargo, because nothing new really happens and i never have questions about behaviour because he stays the same every day haha :S

Although.. Remember how i told you guys once a month Fargo has a 'feral' day?

And i believe it was like the 3rd of February last time?

On the 4th of March... Yep.. Feral day.. He is just so loud and hypo.. It is like- Ok, today i will let out ALL my energy, and the rest of the month i will be perfect hahaha

Hope you liked the pics!

I have a bird sitting on my head at the moment, so i think that means i have to get back to studying hahaha

Missing out on reading lots of threads lately! So tell me anything new that has been going on with you all!

My favorite is the hoodie upside down picture, it is just adorable!!! :)

That hoodie is adorable on Fargo! I love Fargo pictures:)
How is uni going? We miss you around here!

Love the pics, Tab! Thanks for sharing! Especially those hoodie pics! (It would not go well for me if I tried to get one of those on Bixby! I can tell you that much! Lol)

Fantastic photos as always!! Fargo is too cute for words. The hoodie picture makes me want to hug him. I hope your studies are going well. Thanks for taking time to post photos of everybody's little love.

Ahh love love love Fargo. What a pretty boy. :)
I dunno if you saw *any* of my posts lately, but since you asked... :) I did end up taking in a 3 year old male Eclectus parrot, he currently lives with my dad because his alarm-call is too loud for my apartment and triggers panic attacks.. learned that the hard way hehe. But he's doing well and has stopped plucking, I'm waiting for his molt so his pretty healthy feathers can come back. :)
I love the hoodie pictures of Fargo, such a goofball.. Macaws are some of my favorite parrots to be around, although I'm not sure how I'd do having one of my own! Hehe. Maybe something like a red fronted or a greenwing one day.. :)

He is a beautiful bird but what I find most attractive about Mr Fargo is how 'tame' and easy going he is. You did a wonderful job raising him and you're an inspiration to us all, Tab! :)

Hahaha i don't know if the first picture is cute.. More like insane ;)

Whenever his tongue comes out he looks crazy... For example:

Thank you all! :D

Terry, i am LOVING uni.. I was never a big studier at school, i hated school..

But studying this paramedic course, i am so passionate about it, i am WANTING to study!

I think Mum is surprised because i am always like- Ok, gotta go study now! hahaha

Was a bit worried about Chemistry, but actually really enjoying it! Fairly simple when you understand how everything works!

Human Body is a bit full on, we have to remember SOOO much, it is insane..

It has the 3 hour lecture, and so takes about 6 hours because i pause, take notes, do questions!

But i did my first online test for it and got 100% haha

The Paramedic section of the course is very cool, looked at the case study of Princess Diana, was very interesting how that all turned out!

and a big congratulations on being the new mod!!! You know when i 'resigned' my first thought was, they should get Terry to be the new mod!! haha

Thanks guys!

I never really post much about Fargo with other people, but Fargo is incredibly easy going...

Mum just came into my room, and Fargo jumped to the floor, and was running around playing with mum, i didn't get any pictures..

But then mum was giving Fargo scritches, and then she decided to pick him up hahaha

He loves anyone, and he just sat while mum held him!

He is very trustworthy!

I actually have some funny videos of Fargo, need to get around to uploading them!

Oh and a big swing i made for him!

Sterling- That is good news about Yoshi that he has stopped plucking!! Hopefully he will have gorgeous new feathers in a few months! Pity about his alarm calls!

Hahaha Macaws are total goofballs!

and Stephen i will reply to your PM tonight! :)

Have to go ride then wash Kyros for a dressage competition tomorrow!

Ok i am back! haha
Gosh that was a busy day at the competition... and sorry Trish, i have to say i no longer like dressage hahaha

Kyros wasn't in a great mood, so although he looked normal, and everyone thought he was doing well.. It was really bad and you could see that i was having to work super hard to keep him under control... Pity his last owner ruined him and it is going to take monnthsssss for him to get a softer mouth :(

But it was a completely new environment, first time not in an arena, and there were 150 horses, so he just wasn't focused properly!

But at least he looked pretty haha

Soon we will be getting a cage built in the horse truck, and Fargo can come to shows with us!!

I was talking to a world champion endurance rider this afternoon, and mum mentioned Fargo, and the lady actually knew about macaws!

You know how when you tell someone you have a bird, they just think, stick it in a cage feed it seed?

Well this lady said, oh didn't you bring him to the show? They are like family members aren't they... He would be your best friend?

and i was like yesss  haha

and she said, they are very special!

So that was nice, actually met a horsey person who knew how special birds were!

and, i did my chemistry test this afternoon.. With Fargo on my head...

I think i should get an award just for completing a test with 1.2kg balancing on my head hahahaha

that hoodie picture cracked me up!! that is by far a one of a kind photo....
how sweet is he to sit with you while you study, that is just too adorable.
he really is the BEST bird.

Don't even ask how I missed this thread.

Fargo upside down with the hoodie on needs international recognition! That photo is just too awesome for words! :D I LOVE IT!!!

Does he ever make a birdsnest in your hair when he's on top of your head? I know Niko likes preening my hair, but when he's done with me, I can't even brush my hair because he's made knots on top of more knots. :32:

You and Kyros look STUNNING in the photos! Sorry to hear it didn't go so well. Don't be too hard on yourself or Kyros. This was a HUGE learning experience for all of you. Kyros will get better at this, I promise. Just look how far you've come with him already. When you first got him he was completely unresponsive to the bit because the previous owner just ruined his mouth. ;)

Tabitha Brown, wash your mouth out with birdpoo! You do not dislike dressage, you've had a temporary set-back, that's all!

Hard mouth is a pain in the bum, but Kyros is not stupid and will learn (just as Fargo did) what do to when you reward good behaviour. Use your bum, girl, and ride him forward, right up to the bit. That'll keep his little mind occupied and also give you a much cleaner response when you use your aids (including the one to stop). ROTFL! If A-J's got anything to do with it, you should have a bum of cast-iron by now. (ROTFLing disrespectfully at Tab and her cast-iron bum).

Let's hear no more of this 'I don't like dressage any more' - I shall be watching and ready to pounce with my cake of birdpoo!!! :22_yikes:

Hahaha thanks everyone  I love his little hoodie!

Wendy, i think the thread was bumped out of the active section by the time you were awake!

Yessssss, i get so many knots, and he sits there and preens the hair, and tangles it... and makes it a huge mess :p haha

You know how i said the other day he was really strong in our training session at home? That was thursday? and on Saturday, he was amazing, was one of his best days, incredibly collected in his cantering..

But on sunday he was just super strong again..

It really just annoys me that people see Kyros and expect a hanoverian warmblood to be grand prix level dressage.... So when i ride him people think wow, she is a horrible rider, she is always moving her hands -_-

The judge came up to me after and said what a beautiful horse he is but i need to get out of the habit of using the contact in my reins because it is a terrible habit...

I told her that it isn't a habit, i ride no other horse like that... I have to ride Kyros like that when he gets strong because that is the way he has been controlled...

But it is a little hard to change how a horse has been ridden all his life.. It is not an overnight fix -_- It is going to take months and months for him to become softer..

He has already improved alot, but still hard, and at this show he seemed to forget about all the softness at home!

Mum said not to listen to the judge because she has no idea about Kyros's history and yes, she can judge on the test, but she can't act like she knows anything about Kyros and his habits.. She doesn't know that he had a terrible habit of bolting, and was petrified of cars...

At least i can say he no longer bolts and he doesn't even look twice at cars!!! :)

Doesn't help that the last owner said he was doing elementary or one of the high levels with his previous owner... When i spoke to his previous previous owner she said nope, he has only ever done prelim, nothing more -_-

Hahahaha Trish, i think i don't like dressage in the lower levels at small shows? Because no one cares about presentation?

I don't see how a horse who isn't brushed, doesn't look nice, dirty old saddlecloth and riders clothes can win...

I know it is about the horses movements and just about riding...

But i still think there should be a section for presentation at least...

I know in the higher levels and shows everyone looks nice, but the little town shows are horrible -_-

Shall see how we go at the ODE on sunday!! :)

and have jump night this thursday.. Woo.. Love jump nights! :p

Oh and what is strange, i was talking to a few people and they all have goals and dreams.. I want to be an elite dressage rider.. I want to do this ____ with my horse..

and i thought, i actually don't have any kind of dream to be a big rider? I don't care about winning..

I have never thought- i want to become a high level showjumper!

I just ride to ride... Don't want to get anything out of it...

Probably too focused on university and Fargo... haha

Where as most horsey people would like to have their life/career with their horse..

I would just like do have my career as a paramedic.. No idea why i am so obsessed with being a paramedic actually haha

Fargo is so darn cute! :D

Thank you for the Fargo pix! I was missing him! LOVE THE HOODIE!!!

Glad to hear you are enjoying school!

Tabby me darlin', there's only one place to go if you want presentation to matter much. Are you ready? (Shudder)... the hack ring! Euuuwww!

Honestly? Kyros looks utterly magnificent and is a credit to you. You scrub up pretty well too, midear. But would you rather be the fashion plate pair or the horsewoman and her capable mount?

When my sister and I first started doing dressage shows, we were happy that presentation wasn't as important as it is in hacking. It meant that we (my impoverished sister and myself) could compete! There was no way we could afford those English bridles and German saddles. Well - not and continue to keep our kids alive... But we could ride! I'd rather be known for my excellent riding any day.

I know what you mean, of course: it's disrespectful to that Noble Animal, the horse, to appear in ragged jeans or dirty gear. Maybe the people at your show really didn't know any better? Even if you're forced to appear in jeans or moleys, at least they should be clean and pressed. Saddle soap isn't dear and elbow grease comes free, so dirty gear ought to mean automatic exclusion.

My sister and I learned to ride from a retired Hungarian cavalry officer. Yeah, we really did! He had an equitation school in Newcastle, but we couldn't afford to go as the fees were 'way out of our parents' reach, especially for the two of us. Gyorgy Bacsi (Hungarian: 'Uncle George') made a deal with us that we would become working pupils and earn our lessons that way. It was magic! Of course, we learned all about horse care, stabling, cleaning tack, first-aid and lots more besides. I was a pupil with Gyorgy Bacsi until I turned seventeen and went off to Uni, but my sister stayed on long after that, lucky thing! We spent every Saturday and Sunday at the stables and every single day during the school holidays. Anyway, the point is that lots of people want to ride and present well, but can't afford to: they just do the best they can. We had lots of snotty pupils at our riding school who turned up in kit that cost megabux - but they were basically hopeless when it came to riding and horse-coping.

So! You just keep on practising your half-halts and working on that bum of cast iron - Kyros hasn't failed you yet, has he? Just give him the time and space he needs to sort it all out in his head and he will be a Grand Prix horse before you know it! (And when he is, I want a photo of you - wearing a flat-hat - that includes your face! Gottit!?) :D
