Our condo association (south florida) has an exterminator come monthly and we never have any bug problem . how do i deal with that now that i have a bird. They spray a liquid on the floors near external doors and windows. it drys within a half hour. how do i get this done now that i have Coqui (9 y/o B&G). I plan to find out what he uses on his next trip here. I'll let him skip the next spraying until i'm more comfortable.
Thank you for any advice. Linda

Definitely skip it til you tell him your concerns and need to know if he has alternative treatments. I do all my own pest control using what I know is bird safe and even then make sure there is adequate ventilation! I do both inside and outside and am very cautious about doing it.

Ask the exterminator if what he uses is pet/baby/bird safe. He does exterminating for a living, so chances are, he's probably been to homes with birds in them.

Control Natural Aviary and Cage Bug Spray 32oz
by MANGO PET PRODUCTS

All-natural formula contains botanical extracts that control and repel insects
Repel ants, fleas, moths, wasps, flies, gnats, mosquitoes and more
Has a 1 week residual for extra protection

searched for it on MSBS but didn't see it, I got mine thru amazon. I had a REAL bad ant problem and it worked great.

obviously not to be used on birds or cage while bird is in it

We live in south west Fla, and bug spraying is almost a requirement of living in Fla. We use a place called Ban A Bug and they come and spary in and out every three months but they know we have birds and dogs and they use pet safe products . we have never had a problem. I just remind them each time they come but the owner of the company also has birds. I personally do not like ants or roaches the size of small tanks in my house:eek:. No offence to any one but if a bug comes in my house I figure it is suicidal and by by:eek:. I think a lot of people that live in Fla have pet birds and most get their homes sprayed. Good luck:)

Thanks to all. Exterminator uses hazardous product and will only treat when we are up north or bird is out of house for more than 24 hrs. So it will dry.

There is the issue of things he will bite on or put in his mouth though. Can you just get the products and do it yourself, or have him use your products when he comes?
