Donating feathers

Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you guys ever thought of donating your birds.feathers. Im a traditional aztec dancer and would like to seek out people willing to donate these precious feathers to me. I use these sacred feathers to make fans and headdresses and other accessories just like my ancestors did. If you would like to donate please let me know. If you would like I could send pics of what your donations look like after we put them to use ..... Tlazokamati "thank you"

I donate mine via my avian vet; he regularly visits several tribes in the area so they can use them in creation of their headdresses, accessories and other gifts to generate money.

That's awesome! I'm glad to hear that you donate them instead of just disposing of them

I had so many, place them in vases and my vet mentioned it many years ago and I was glad to donate. I saw them for sale on ebay and thought in a way that it was a sellout, ethically. I feel better donating them.

Yea we believe that when something is given its charged with positive energy and love that was given to the bird. Plus ebay and online costs make it impossible for most of us to purchase them. That why our traditions depend on generous giving people like you. I'm trying to see if i can get some donations here

My breeder donates them for us. Any bird that he trims the wings on or feathers he has to pluck he donates. Which if you get a bird from him he trims the nails, and wings for free as long as he's in business, and he's been in business for 40 years now.

Maybe also try contacting local avian vets, rescue centers, and bird clubs...I'm sure you could align organizations, and you'd get some great donations.

Ive contacted a few avian clubs , I got my fingers crossed hoping they are able to help my cause. Hopefully I could find a few donors here too

I donate my feathers to my son-in-law's brother, who makes regalia for pow-wows.

I sometimes see people on craigslist, requesting feathers. Some parrot-owners cruise craigslist for cages, perches, birds, etc., and just do a search for "parrot" so maybe if you post on craigslist, you will find local parrot-owners willing to help.
