Domnijoe - The Art Studio and Bird Herder's Residence

Here's my new cage for my future TAG. I think it's big enough for a temporary cage. I have to find something sturdier to tie the top exit door. The cage opens at the top, plus there's a door without a latch that I've zip-tied closed. I have yet to get more toys. I'm going to research Amazon/grey-sized toys so I can make my own.

Nice, your future friend should have fun hanging from top!

What are the dimensions of the cage?

I may have a breeder set up, but I always surf Kijiji for possible bird adoptions. Found one in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, that Miiiiight be a fit. I wanted an older bird, and this fella is 3 years. Male, but DNA isn't available.

Keeping my options open and stuff :D.

Well, that Kitchener, Ontario, Canada bird was a bust. He was unwilling to ship, but I found another place that has another bird. Some people accuse them of reselling, while they say they simply offer birds for adoption through a 'second chance bird rescue' they have on the side, where people with unwanted birds approach them and they help find them adoptees. Their reviews seem legit and their efforts appear real, so I'm going with them. They have a young male available., about a year old. Looks good. :)

Bummer... I can't afford the bird still. Have to wait until April before I can afford the bird! Gonna be eating a lot of Raman noodles in that time, LOL!

Don't use the sodium filled flavor packets. Use low salt bullion cubes and/or low salt soup for flavor with plenty of cayenne or habanero or Carolina reaper for bite. Then you won't have hypertension, coronary disease etc when you get your friend! I love ramon and substitute that so I can eat them w/o guilt! (Plus I add chop veggies before they go bad! Cheap homemade soup)

Thanks for the tip! Move over burdees... veggies are gonna be for me, too! MMmmm... raman noodle soup :D.

I'm really anxious about getting a Grey. I want to make sure we are a great/good fit because I KNOW how often they're rehomed, and I am afraid of screwing up. At the same time... I've got experience. I know what I'm getting myself into :)

Do you intend to get a baby or very young grey? If so, he will probably outlive you and will need to be rehomed eventually, adding to the homeless parrot problem. Rehoming is very hard on ultra intellegent parrots, especially when they bond with you when babies. Please consider getting an older adult that needs a home that can grow old by your side.

That's my first choice. I'm looking at a place in Quebec, that has an older bird. MY second choice is from a breeder. :)

I've done some bird art lately! Started a new sketchbook, so I have been getting used to painting on the paper.

and a Timneh African Grey because I need to get it out of my system SOMEhow, LOL!

So my mom knows that I plan on getting a new bird. I suspect she's NOT IMPRESSED ( I already have a herd of animals...) but I'm almost 50, for heaven's sake, LOL! And I live on my own! She's just worried that I'll get in trouble with the landlord and I'll overwhelm myself.

Oh the joys of being disabled and needing a family to help out... **eye roll and sigh**

I've noticed that Charlie's slowed down quite a bit the past few days. I dunno if he's gonna make it to his 25th birthday. I can hope he will!

A few updates - got new pix of the birds! I'll post those later. Also, I discovered one of my neighbors in the apartment building doesn't seem to like me because of all the noise I make. As a friend of mine (sort of) said - "Smeg 'em!' . It worries me, because of all the animals I have, and moving will be a bear if I get evicted, but I've technically NOT done anything WRONG. :) .

Now for the bird pix:

I've contacted my local parrot club to see if any members have gotten rehoming requests about African greys. Fingers crossed that someone needs to rehome their baby. :)

Found a guy selling untamed congo greys. Appears to be reducing his breeders. Or whatever. Asked him for information. We'll see if he's a scammer. Also contacted my local parrot club about anyone wanting to rehome a congo/timneh grey.

Just wondering my circle as the lady breeder who had me friended on FB has unfriended me for whatever reason. Makes me wonder.. last time a breeder did that to me it did not end well.

WHyyyyyyyyyy does searching for a bird have to be so complicated? :D
