Do we have anyone who practices feng shui on here?

My husband doesn't much care for that style either which is why he keeps bringing crap into my house and messing up my zen lol.

I took some serious thought/consideration to each space and what bothers me most. I have also now finished reading a (short) book on beginners principals of Feng shui. Like the universe was giving me a big thumbs up (instead of the typical other one fingered gesture I seem to receive more often than not:rolleyes:), when I took out the trash the other day, I found someone had thrown out 2 perfect condition metal wall art pieces, one of which will be perfect after I paint it for the bathroom. The other I am not sure if I will use or not, but rather than head to a landfill for all eternity, I will at least take it to the goodwill with some other donations so someone else can enjoy it.

May what you do continue to reflect that small smile from the universe! It is the continued small moments that combined to lift us. Years from now, during a moment of reflection you may see this line and come to understand how blessed you have been. Enjoy each smile!

It has been some time since I posted on this thread, but I am continuing to make changes. I have gotten rid of some items which were connected to negative emotions and done some moving around of things. I actually looked into a real Feng shui consultant. HUNDREDS of dollars to have them look around (and those were rates for online consultants!). I've read an additional few books instead to get a better understanding. There are some aspects of Feng Shui I am still not clear how to apply to our space, so I'm kind of going with what "feels right", but I have done other areas I have a more clear idea on and things are feeling more "where they should be". Maybe it's energy flowing right or maybe just in my head, but either way it is less anxiety producing and chaotic in my head.

I have been working on reusing some materials which were just creating clutter. Namely, some old laminate cube type furniture, one piece which was semi broken during our move and a shelf that was here when we bought the condo I hated the look of. I am working those into an entryway bench. Our entryway was so blah and uninviting. We got rid of our bed too (it was old and horrible and giving both of us back pain for some time, but new beds are just so expensive!). I took all the wood out of the boxspring (OMG that was ridiculously difficult, but I got about $30 of usable wood out of it!) to make a new headboard for our new "bed". It's kind of non-traditional for the US, but apparently fairly common elsewhere in the world. We went with a folding floor mat style so we could have extra room during the day if we needed it as our loft bedroom is pretty small. It's actually really comfortable to sleep on and was far more affordable than a traditional mattress and boxspring (and is supposedly better for your back long term anyway).

Anyways, I just wanted to post a little bit of an update since so many members were helpful with ideas on this thread:) Especially the person who said I need to forgive the condo, because it really isn't the spaces fault we didn't want to end up here.

Once the spaces begin to breath, they will provide a means to see other areas in a different way. Blocked (closed) vision of the mind is an effort to provide time for the mind to find clarity in seeing the next step. Never look at a door as being closed, its only waiting for the correct moment for it to allow flow.

Like understanding our Amazons, in near all cases it requires a change in our vantage point. When you become blind to the next step, place a ladder (even a step stool) in the room or area and view it from a different vantage point. Have no fear in moving the ladder as it is the same as stepping to see a different view. Same thinking. This is very true if the room feels heavy or stuffy! Move above to see, to feel and to hear!

To meet all the requires of perfection requires a start from anew! That is a wonderful, even lofty goal, but it is not the only reason for the journey. The vast majority of journeys start and end in the same place! Both journeys can be filled with joy or pain of failure. The difference is not the starting point or even the ending point - it is the fruitfulness of the journey. Do not demand perfection - find the small smiles, the tiny smoothing of lights pathways, the smalls reduction in a jarred noise. By doing so, you will find comfort!
