i got a new addition to my flock 2 beautiful pearl pied cockatiels (i think) so my question is do u think they are male and female the guy at the breeder told me they are male and female and while we were talking one of them was singing and he told me it was the male he went to the mirror in there cage touched and started to sing to it the other one is always quiet so i think its a female plz answer thank u

From what I know that is correct. The male I have now and the ones in the past were always the singers, while the females hardly ever make noise.

I thought you got pearl pieds? Both of them are Pieds! You can not visually sex pieds, you have to look under their wing feathers and look for the dots!

Here's my babies I recently raised....The first one from the left is a Pearl Pied! Yours are pieds not pearl pieds!

And from Left to right is Girl, Boy, Girl, and Boy!

how do u tell if its male or female from that young of an age other than them singing

Genetics! Plus the dots I was telling you about! I used to breed them years ago, got some again in the recent year. I had no intension on breeding them, it just happened. The parent pair used to hate each other.

but the problem is they still havent molted so can i still check there wings and if so what do i look for and what are the differences in the male and female dots?

They don't need to molt to check for dots, youngsters and adult plumage should be about the same. Yes in the regular coloring, all the babies looks like momma. Color variation does not apply! But they still have the dots regardless, unless it's a Pearl then you can't tell....

You should never stick new birds together in the same cage without observing! You need a separate cage!

ill try to see if i can get a cage but whats bothereing me is that the bird might not like the female and they might not have babies in the future

Not necessarily!!! He might be attracted to that specific marking on the other male. Once you separate things may change. Why are you wanting to breed so badly? I never force mine, they like what they like. I have a beautiful pied male that's self absorbed, he only like himself....

He'll sing again! They always sing! It's just gonna take him a few days to get adjusted to the new cage.
