Hey guys! I'm getting a conure soon, not sure if a sun or blue crown yet but either way I need a training stand before he gets here! I really love the one that is on the parrot wizard website (trainedparrot.com) but the thing is $150!! I'm not really a handy man lol any idea how to make one of these yourself??

Thanks guys!! =D

If you have a saw and a measuring tape/ruler, you could make one of these....go to your local hardware store and get a piece of 3/4" white pvc pipe, (2) 3/4" PVC "T" joints, and (6) 3/4" PVC 90 degree elbows...

You'll need to cut 3 pieces the same length however wide you want it to be (pieces A-C)...cut 2 pieces the same length for how tall you want it (pieces D & E)....and 4 pieces how long you want the base (pieces F-I) (you'll probably want it to equal the width so it's square)

Keep in mind that you'll lose 1/2"-3/4" when you insert each end of each piece into its proper joint piece.

And you'll probably want some vet/medical wrap to wrap the perch part so it has some grip to it~ this can be purchased at a pet store, farm store, or a place that sells first aid supplies.

I hope this helps!

That's awesome! I'm definitely saving that. I would still like to create one like this website has with the wooden perch on what looks like a microphone stand?? How would I get a perch to attach to one?

Which one are you talking about? I didn't see any training perches that were even close to $150.

Do you mean the round one? You can build one of those out of flex PVC and then wrap it with either vet wrap or sisal rope. :)

I need to get to the hardware store and make some. I keep putting it off. Willow can fly, quite well, when she wants.

Not saying we play toss the white football around...but she flies very well, lol

That's a nice one christinenc2000 I'm need it for training so no distractions! Lol I was thinking maybe a threaded metal insert? It just needs to fit the stand is all!

Wow, those are just $20 microphone stands , with a wood dowel slapped on the top. Tell y what i'll make ya the same thing for $100 and i'd still put $70 in my pocket.

Wendy, you know those overpriced perches are from your favorite magical parrot personality.

I'm definitely a fan of the parrot wizard here lol but no way I'm paying that much for those. I'll be making a stop at my favorite music store then to Home Depot! Lol

Omg I also just noticed that he sells just the perches! I can totally just order the same perch, which is a lot better price and then with the mic stand! I can literally make the same exact thing for $45! Done. I'm so doing it.

Why would you want to waste your money on a modified dowel? That's all this is - nothing more. You'd be better off slapping a REAL piece of wood on the mic stand, with bark and all. :D

Watch those perches. My BB destroyed one in 3 hours. It was given to him . So glad I did not spend my money on it. Very soft. Best contacting henpecked and ordering some good natural wood that will last
