Hi All,
Wondering if your cockatoo also dips pellets in water before eating them? It is a very funny behaviour and even if I put water and food cup in opposite ends of the cage Snow will travel the distance each time (with 2 pellets in his beak) to put it in water first (Good exercise all right :p :)

I think all birds do this... mine do.

Aaah, the joy of freshly made pellet soup!

Results of a recent poll of the Association of International Pellet Soup Makers!
Just nothing better! :D

My too does it as well. I think she knows I'll change the water more frequently when she does it.

Some of mine do, others don't. They all waste pellets by taking a bite or two, dropping, rinse and repeat! I tried a smaller pellet size and they were underwhelmed!

Haha it is just so funny, thanks all for sharing your pellet soup experiences :D
My cockatiel never does this it she eats pellets (after a seed diet breeder was giving her). She thinks water should only be used for drinking and taking an amazing bath :p

Our Goffins doesn’t dip, and neither does our mustached parakeet, or lineolated parakeet, but our sun conure is all about dipping pellets, dehydrated veggies, etc. into his water! I change his water at least three times a day. I have simply associated it with the same behavior my husband exhibits: my husband uses tons of sauce for dipping fries, chicken, steak, etc. [emoji81]

Our Goffins would waste larger pellets, too! He’d grab them, nibble, throw, repeat. Once we switched to the same size his bestie from his previous home uses, he stopped wasting as many. Too funny!

Our G2 and Quacker do this. Help soften them up.

The best is when we get home and birds are all out, the Quacker will then bath in the dirty water in the G2's cage. Unless we can get to it first.

Yeah!
