(aka: Lu-Lucifer, Lu-Ludacris, Lu-Lunatic..she is the total opposite)
Good afternoon yall. This, obviously, is my first post on the site. I joined the forum for two reasons basically. One, ive found so many answers, all of them helpful, here on this site. Also because I have a few more specific to me questions I'd like to ask, but will do in a separate post, hopefully in the right area's. This is just to let yall know about me, and my lil buddy.
Brendan(me): 24 years young. United States Marine:42:. Spent a good amount of time over seas. Live in NY, close to parents but not to close. Have my own place. No kids, unless the bird counts and at times, i think She does. I am white. Irish:41:, first gen. Sure theres more but could take hours.
Lulu(bird child): Green Cheek. 2 years old approx. 'Adopted' her from a home/farm. Thats about all I know. I feel like the owner did care because with the "re-homing" bulls*** fee, I got food that she would special prepare for lulu, but other then that i got nothing. Love the bird. SOO quiet, most of the time. I had kept the name lulu because she does say it occasionally. However i have updated her with new nick names: LU-lunatic, LU-lucifer, LU-loony and LU-ludicrous. She is kinda the opposite of those but does have the capacity to be LU-Loony.
Q:Why did I take her in?
A: I have experienced alot of loss, meaning death more often then not, in my life.
--Lost my first real gf to leukemia in like 8th grade. By real gf, i mean one who got to meet my mom, faily, etc.
--Then 2010- went to wake my little bother up to go bowling as promised, found him deceased. Had epiilepsy and it took him out, heart stopped. Also had tourettes, and diabetes, so full plate.
--Then mom got stage 4 ovarian. (is now in remission.. total miracle).
--First dog, my dog, age 13 had to be put down, 4 mo. after that.
--Iraq, Afghanistan. Don't need to say more. Wont say more.
So im tired of death, big time. Birds last a while when cared for, so thats my intention. Wanted a sun conure or a macaw but search came up empty. Got this GCC and love the little ****. Thats me, and her in a nutshell kinda. I look forward to having some direct feedback from you guys. Its helped a ton before they were specific to me so thanks for that as well!
