Conure Behavior Advice

I have a lovely little Mexican green conure Budi

Well not that little


He is super bonded to my BF who works at home , he preens him a lot and is on him constantly

Only issue is recently he really only snuggles him and lets him touch him. He never attacks me but he shoves me away when I try to skritch him . He doesn't chase me away from my BF atleast


He still has a bond to me
Only I can sing and dance and do tricks with him. He threatens my BF when he talks ( he has a similar voice to the dude we got him from I think and he was a little rough when we first got him).
He will walk right up to his face and be like I could bite you

Luckily he has learned no bite decently well. But it's so bizarre

I can only do certain things

BF can only do certain things


We both have a very unique bond with Budi

But has anyone had experience with this similarly before? I'd love to snuggle him again and skritch him

We all live with what our parrots are willing to give. Treats can help wiggle into their good graces, that and patience............lots n lots of patience.

Hmmm I think I'm wrong about conure

My sun conure is my most difficult parrot. He is… spicy!!!! He honestly prefers my jenday conures company. He’s tolerant of my husband. He can draw blood on me depending on his mood (he’s hormonal right now so there’s no give). He’s gotten so possessive of his cage.

Seems I can scritch him when he's on my knee!

I just find it so odd I can do tricks my BF isn't allowed

He can snuggle I cannot

My BF was gone for the weekend so I was his only companion! We went through his entire morning and night routine


I even got some scritches and snuggles in!!!

Budi let's me preen him always IF
He preens me first
He has to go first

Also he knows when I'm hurt or sick he snuggles and watches me as I lay down .

Dad snugs are always his fave tho

Budi sounds like a great bird! So affectionate, cute and fun. It could be worse- he could hate your BF or your BF could hate him. Sounds like you're doing pretty good.
