i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I have a new rb2, he is almost 9 weeks old. When I got him, he was the same dusty kind of rose and grey that his clutch mates are. I have noticed over the past week that he is looking darker. He is more of a darkish rose/red. I don't think it can be a health issue, he has been vet checked and from what I understand feathers on them don't change that quickly and once they are formed. He does get peanut butter in his formula, I am not sure if the oils are getting on his feathers (he is a messy eater at times) and that is spreading on his feathers. I took him in the shower yesterday (he loved it!) I feel like he came out of the shower even darker. Today I had him at my breeders shop and I took a look at his clutch mates they are sooo much lighter than he is. One of the owners looked at him and asked me if I am rubbing his feathers a lot. I said no, I haven't rubbed them at all. I have cleaned him off when he gets messy with a damp paper towel but that is it. She kind of got me worried, has anyone experienced this?

Does he have as much feather dust? Less feather dust can make them seem darker. And as you said the grease from the peanut butter could do that. Are you able to take a photo?

Ok, not sure what I did but the video does not seem to work, would love any help anyone could give me!

Not sure but make sure to update your "parrots" status that currently says "I have an african grey (cag) named Dorothy I also have a greenwing macaw named Moses", you need to add "our newest member to the flock, Galah named Nigel".... :D
