Coco loves good music!

We are a family of musicians and have to practice good and annoying stuff at home. I noticed that whenever any of us or we together play something really nice Coco start screaming to get out of her cage if she is there, and as soon as I open she would fly over to the piano and quietly sit either on my head/shoulder or the music stand and listen. Today I practiced some piano accompaniments and she didn't care, but I soon as I started paying the Pathetique Sonata by Beethoven (one of my students is playing it, and I had to refresh it too) she screamed herself out of the cage, flew to me and sat on my head and music stand not making a peep for over an hour. When I made a little break she squawked impatiently until I came back and continued playing! Such a sweet musical baby! Love her! :10:

Aw that's so cute! I just love these little personality idiosyncrasies that emerge and define each bird as a unique little soul with their own likes and dislikes

I think my galah is tone deaf. I gave her a stirring rendition of "You made me love you" (in what I believe to be the "Ethel Merman" style). She loved it, danced like a crazy thing. Her musical appreciation is seriously questionable.

I'm glad Coco's got more of an idea of what's good and what's awful. Does she act the same when it's a recording? There are lots of lovely vibrations with a live piano. I wonder if it's just the music, or the percussion that attracts her.

We don't really play that much recordings - only TV sometimes... She want to come over only when either my hubby (he plays viola/violin/guitar, acoustic and electric) or me (piano) play something beautiful and melodic. I noticed it with classical music - she just sits there and wants to listen to Bach or Beethoven.. She doesn't seem to care that much about the drum machine though. I think it's the melody, harmony and vibrations coming from instruments that's attracting her.

Maybe you could use her in your students' music exams.... If the bird approves, you pass You could be on to something big.

Bacca has definite tastes in music. I tried leaving VH1 on for her but she ignores it. Putting Teddy Wilson on in the Disklavier has her chirping and dancing. She likes some of the stuff I play and ignores others. She loved the piece the piano tuner was playing the other day but it was "The Robin's Return".

It was quite a surprise to us when we got her (she had spent four years in a cage) that she dances to the music ... she'll shuffle from side to side and kick her foot up and chirp in time with the music.

WHy have I never heard of him? That's good stuff and my galah liked it, too.
