Parrots
a beautiful umbrella cockatoo
Well, hey there guys. So Sarah and I have been getting along beautifully, and now when she is calm I am even comfortable with an outside the cage stroke session- about five minutes... she seems to be a bit possessive over me when I come home, but I expect that. I just try my best to do all work in front of her...which I do! (I am trying to get my parents to get me a laptop so I can spend more time with her). However any screaming behavior is ignored until work is done...

Now, what I was told is that Sarah was an old couple's bird. And the person who sold her said that is all she knows. Now, I used to believe that, but I know I think very differently.
Sarah is terrified of water... lived in a two foot by two foot...is very quickly overstimulated (talking just one noise)...phobic....and most horrified by medium sized things (chairs, stands), but not large items (sofas, tables).

The person who sold her to us is all friendly and truthful, but both of us no wonder what was really going on in her previous home. She is really terrified of her travel cage too...although she doesn't and has never plucked...

Well can any of you guys put together a little back story for Sarah. I wonder if she is really just from an old couple who couldn't handle a tenacious umbrella, or something else....:31:

it makes you wonder doesn't it...maybe she came from an elderly coulple whos kids or grand kids teased and mistreated her? as far as being afraid of chairs, many birds are afraid of seemingly normal things, so it might not be because of abuse. if it is, maybe they hit her cage with chairs or stands? as for the fear of water, maybe she was forcefully bathed? i hope this shed some light on her story, and glad to here you guys are making progress :)

Possibly...but I guess in all reality it doesn't really matter her past. All that matters is her new life with me... Since I sit on chairs near her, she is actually okat with chairs as long as they don't move.

Gosh she is really overactive!!!! She just woke p and she already screaming for breakfast....

i guess they are pretty impatient when they're hungry lol. Oscar would do almost anything for plain oatmeal cooked in water.
