How do you clean perches and toys? I read you have to soak them. What do you use to soak them in?

Also can you soak the grooming perches or will it ruin the sand texture?

Ok, I have the pet focus, ill just spray the toys with that.

I picked up a huge cage off of CL before I got my first GW, the lady included alot of freebies with it (including a Lg. ORB!) but I also got this brush set with interchangable brushes, one with a hook, it is a lifesaver for cleaning perches! :)

I swear by grapefruit seed extract. It works great and is very economical. When I first got birds I wanted a good cleaner (I tend to be a germaphobe! LOL) I did some research and found out that it kills more bacteria than even surgical soap. I bought a sprayer at a home improvement store and I fill it with water and then I add 30 drops of gse. I spray my perches, toys, cage etc. I also clean out water bowls throughout the day with it. Sometimes I will spray down the grate and then follow up with a steamer. I do this at least once a week. I also do this to the java tree. I love it and it is very economical!

I second the grapefruit seed extract, a poster hear told me about it, i love it , I also use vinegar and water as a cleaner .

I stick everything I can in the top rack of dishwasher and add a bit of bleach. The rest I use vinegar and water. Also use poop off daily to keep up with the mess so no major scrubbing because nothing builds up.
