nice chop! olly would love it! maybe add more veggies tho- just a suggestion-
PLEASE NEVER NEVER EVER PINEAPPLE, ORANGES OR OIL OF ANY KIND, UNLESS YOU WANT A DEAD BIRD. THAT IS NOT CHOP... WHICH ISN'T REALLY A THING. Fresh organic veggies and legumes like peas, shredded carrots, mustard greens, and various other deeply colored veggies like beets. NEVER NEVER NEVER FRUIT. Fruit is only to be used as a treat once a day.. a small piece of low sugar fruit like apple or berries. Blueberries are the most nutrient dense and delicious as are the other dark berries. NEVER give a full cherry... EXTREMELY HIGH IN SUGAR. Birds don't need and cannot use sugar and eventually will make them very sick. I would like to see your bird live long and happy.

I have included a highly regarded guide for feeding your bird. It's easy to make, can be frozen and is a highly nutritious form of veggie use. Pellets MUST ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE as hey are the highest form of nutrition currently available. They are fortified with Vitamin D which is CRITICAL for good health.

I completely disagree about not giving your parrot fruit. My parrots get a small amount of fruit every day and they are completely fine.
You also must know that some parrots and birds are frugivores who require fruit in their diet.
I also use coconut oil in my ekkie's food at times, as do many people I know.
You cannot lump all birds together as different species require different diets.

I hope you do some more research so that your parrots are getting the best diet possible.

I just looked at the diet you linked and it contains fruits, including the ones you said not to use.

I Highly disagree, just like terry above. Unless fruit are the main part of a non fruit-eating parrot(Let's say, cockatiel) it's healthy for them to have it once in a while.

As for pellets? I disagree with you. Pellets don't have to be part of the diet.

Vets still see the same/similar problem in birds who eat mostly pellets than in birds who eat mostly seed. Both can lead to obesity.

Pellets should only be a small part of the diet, 30% or less(for most species, excluding ekkies/lorikeets. They shouldn't be eating pellets). Some of these "Natural" Pellets contain sugar or other unhealthy ingredients. There's a really interesting thread on pellet ingredients here

Do you know the best way for them to get vitamin D? Yup, the sun. It's the most natural way to give it.

I'll leave it here since I don't want to start an argument.

I will have to disagree on that one. I donโ€™t have any scientific proof, other than Egg LOVING apples. I also used pineapple, and Egg likes it. It really all depends on what bird you have and how old they are. Oranges are high in vitamin C (I think), and Egg kind of likes them. If your bird is too old or too young for one of these fruits and vegetables, donโ€™t feed it to them! FYI - CHOP IS A REAL THING! WHO NEVER SAID IT WASN'T?โ€”

Just be careful with citrus because they are quite acidic:)

Marketing makes you think orange juice, plenty if other source for vitamin C, like cranberries, Watercress is loaded with nutrients. I used to have a great nutrition link...Sigh

Most creatures make vitamin C so

" Vitamin C

There are only a few wild birds that have a direct need for vitamin C. These include the red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) and the willow ptarmigan/red grouse (Lagopus lagopus) as well as the crimson sun-conure, a form of parrot.
Birds in general do not need vitamin C in their diets as it can be produced from glucose in the liver. If a bird is suffering from liver disease, therefore, it may require a dietary source of vitamin C." Excerpt from linked article
Warning! Different parts of this article show deceased birds and dissection and graphic images

Citric acid has bern linked in some bird Species to iron storage disease.

Citrus is native to Asia, so especially New world parrots didn't evolve to eat it..it was never part of their natural diet. And while we feed them many things different from their native diet. I would never use orange/grapefruit/lemon juice as its more concentrated citric acid. Id use caution with feeding fresh orange.

I think when we think "fruit" we all think different things. When I was a kid fruit just ment apples, oranges and grapes.

For burds berries are nature's way to tell burds come spread my seeds! So full of antioxidants. I think most nutrition articles say 10% of daily diet can be fruits. So black berries, raspberries, mulberry, service berry, fresh cherry ( minus pit ) plums, and things like pomegranate, mango, peaches, cantaloupe and many others are great to choose from.

Aww thanks!
I mean I'm never using my crystal deviled egg server in the last decade ha! Being heavy makes it so perfect and the flock members can find their own spots

I would never have thought of that. Mine has been packed away since I moved here, maybe it's time to take it out of storage. I really love this idea.

Never fails tho...mine is better ( probably cuz of dressing) even though its all the same stuff!

It looks so amazing! Egg being a picky bird who does not like almost anything, Iโ€™m used to failed attempts. But this, this is amazing! Keep up the great work! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป
