I am not gonna lie, this is the first bird i have evr had that has done this! The first time i got such a fright- he goes totally limp like a rubber chicken. Since then I have discovered its a cockatoo thing :)

i'd have been in a right old flap! and lmao awww like some toddlers my step daughters baby was the same, all of a sudden she'll be flopped over something snacking on the Z'z ;)

There's no doubt Charlie feels totally safe and secure to relax like that! Great parronting!

Thank you guys so much for the encouraging remarks. I have had birds in my life, dogs, rescue cats and rescue horses that I have needed a lot of patience with in earning their trust. Charlie is not one I can take credit for. He is the most loving, trusting creature I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. His story is that he became a handful for his owner, too loud and busy and then ended up at the pet store where I found him, but what I know is this: at some time in his life he knew a great deal of love to be so trusting of his guardians. At his first vet visit, he literally lay on his back, feet in the air as if he was having a manicure-totally relaxed. Same when he had his injections. Then proceeded to cuddle the vet LOL. He is such a happy independant little boy and his body language leaves little to the imagination. If he feels over stimulated, he just says "nooooo", and fluffs his feathers a bit- we put him alone on his cage or playstand and an hour or two later he is ready to interact again. If you ignore the no, well, its at your own peril of course! LOL. Physically he was lacking, but there has been a huge improvement in his feathers and weight since his new diet. His beak is still dry and brittle though, not a shiny grey/black colour but rather chalky. Vet says it will continue to come right with diet and care, but any ideas? oils or lotions that anyone has used?

What a fantastic picture of a well resting Too! Sammy does that also but loves to be under my covers. I have to shake him to wake him up! Silly Toos, they play so hard!

i have a umbrella too and he does the same thing .one day i was lookin for him he was on the couch in the corner up under my blanket sleep ever since then i have to watch him because he almost got sat on but he love to get under the blanket and take nap with me

Bella sort of does something like that. She stands on her favorite part of the couch, cocks her head to the side & naps. Even if we are being loud in the house she is still out like a light. I had never seen a bird do this before and was worried that Bella did it but my vet said it was completely normal!

That picture just made my day!:D

To cute what he did at the vet, my word I can just wish Sterretjie can be a fraction so nice. My vet feels the same!:p

Vitamin A, magnesium, calcium and vitamin D. The calcium and the magnesium is needed for bone growth and the vit. D is needed to absorb them. Vitamin a is for the skin. It will take about a year for the beak to grow a new. I just bought some powdered bird calcium/magnesium supplement with vitamins and am putting the powder is some cornbread mix tomorrow for my "flock". I am the flock leader. I may not lead the human flock at work, but at home I am in charge of the whole flock! Lesley
