Catalina or Harlequin?

Turquoise, you should get us some photos of their parents!!!! Back shots of the scarlets would also be fantastic!

Unless their breeder were to agree to send them to me, otherwise I myself do not have any personal photos of my boys parents. I did see photos of them when I first contacted the breeder about them from her website. The breeder lives over 500 miles from me, so not an option for me to go down there to take photos.

Do you think it makes a difference in their coloring .Due to what the mom was [Blue and gold or scarlet] Your Catalina has alot more red than mine :)

I really don"t have the answer to that as I don't have the knowledge of how any of our feathered kids colors are determined. I just know I love my boys very much & that I absolutely love being owned by macaws! They are the bird of choice for me. And I never asked their breeder which species was the father & which was the Mom. It was not a concern for me & truthfully it still isn't. I have no plans to ever become a breeder of any kind of bird or other creature. I just enjoy all my feathered & non feathered kids company.

There is a certain amount of variation that occurs in Catalinas as some will have a dark beak and others it will be lighter with streaks in it. My Catalina Doogie looks just like him. In Harlequins the chest orange is a little darker as the red in a Greenwing is more like burgandy than the blood red of a Scarlet. Click thumbnail to enlarge picture somewhat. Look at the post near this one of "Cookie Monster" for another pic of Doog monster. Sometimes cameras do not give an accurate depiction of color. Turquoise your birds appear to be Harlequins.

Mine looks just like Doogie except with the white in her beak and orange lines on her face. :)

I'm pretty certain that De'Andrea (Turquoise) knows what she has. :D

And Alwese is spot on. There ARE variations in color in both Catalinas AND Harlequins.
