Car Perch I Made!

All joints are screwed to the pipes. I choose not use glue because of the chemicals. I don't plan on taking it apart anytime soon and its not coming apart on its own! Lol! This is 1 1/4 pipe and is plenty thick and strong for my parrot needs. My local HD doesn't carry that many varieties but doesn't need to. The pvc they do sell is plenty thick! Thanks for the info in either case. :D

The "glue" used for PVC pipes is a solvent gel. It welds the plastic together. It will not hurt even the most sensitive organism if you let it set overnight so all the acetone has evaporated. My only problem is buying a small enough quantity as I won't use it up before it goes bad. And, for actual plumbing use, the primer stains everything it touches.

I'm asking how you put screws in: what kind of screws, how to they hold in the plastic?

They make clear gel ... no stain. They also make the cleaner and adhesive for use on fish tanks to avoid any potential poisoning hazard.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Savannah has taken her 3rd trip to the store with me today and has been doing great on her car perch! It is working really well. Makes life a lot easier to bring her back and forth to work! :D

What an incredible invention Wow
If I were you I would certainly think about putting it on the market and selling them.
I am positive many guardians would be interested

Thanks for sharing

Thanks Ant! I just saw this. LOL! Savannah has really enjoyed using it. It has really worked well. We even tried it in the seat behind me and she did well there, too!

I'm hoping to make one for Coqui. Hopefully she will be as cooperative about using it! :D

OMG I love it ! I bet you could find a way to get the seat belt across it to stabilize it even more. I can smell a Hubby project coming this weekend ! Ruby travels on her scale perch placed on my center console. It fit perfectly when the cup holder is closed and it wont slide at all. Downfall to it is that she can't see out the windows.

I never thought of that, but I think you are right. I bet the seat belt would go over it pretty well. But now that I think about it, this think is pretty darn secure. I don't think it's going anywhere! LOL! I'm not sure the seat belt would add anything. But it's worth a try anyway. ;)

I love what you came up with using the scale perch. It would be nice for her to see out the windows though. Hopefully you can get your hubby to try out this project! If so, be sure to post a pic so I can see it! :)

Thanks Jasminxa718!

Savannah has found the seatbelt! LOL! Thanks for bringing it up Shelly! I guess it was inevitable! Luckily she didn't chew on it long! She likes to chew on the seat, too! That is why I don't leave her in my car unattended! LOL!
