So I bought a beautiful ripe Athena cantalope which is a Fla variety. I just spent 45 min in the kitchen cutting it into chunks and I can't bare to waist all those good seeds, so most of the time was spent cleaning the seeds off then rinsing them several times to get all that stringy stuff off. They are now wrapped in paper towels in the fridge to dry off then I will freeze them for the birds. All the fids got a dish of fresh cantalope sprinkled with some of the fresh seeds. They are all happily chewing away and the canary after having some is singing his little heart out. I also do that with any winter squash seeds. Makes for happy fids and beats throwing them out
