I found another horrible person on craigslist. I would love to rescue her but my parents would not like a loud macaw in the house.

Macaw birds

Mare Miller, you HAVE to get her. :( I'm simply too far away. I'm applaud by the living conditions this poor bird is forced to stay in. No toys, dirty water (by looks of it not because she just ate) and did you see the floor! I wish I could lock up people and make them live the way they make their animals live.

I'm nowhere near California, but if a reputable person on here was interested, I would be willing to make a donation for the "re-homing" fee. If someone does step up, perhaps we could start a fund?

A rehoming fee for a Macaw who is likely no longer tame. People kill me. That poor girl, look at that horrible cage and no toys in sight. I hope that picture doesn't tell the whole story, because it's a terrible way for a bird to live.

I'd take her in but I am so far away. However if someone -does- want to pick her up and can't keep her, I'll pay to fly her out here. Otherwise I can contribute to the rehoming fee if there is a fund set up, but I'd hope she can be talked down on her price. Maybe send this link to a rescue in the area?

I'm going to make the call today to see if she/he is still around. I believe Sun Valley is near L.A., southern cal area. About 4-5 hrs. from me.

Good for you Mare! That poor girl (if it is a girl) needs out of that situation.

I can't contribute much, but I'd also give what I could.

Thank you Mare Miller, let us know how it goes.

I just spoke to the woman who has the macaw and the bird is still in the home. I asked if she can handle the bird and the answer was "no, she bites anyone who comes near". I'm thinking that I would also be a b*tch living under those conditions. I'm kind of afraid of biting off more than I can chew but I'm going to go check her out next week, I can't get there till Tuesday so I told the woman I'll be in touch and if she still has the bird at that time, I'll head on down.

Thanks to everyone for the offer of financial aid but I think I can handle it. I will also try and bring the price down, considering that the bird is unmanageable. What I will need from you, if I do bring the bird home, is emotional support and all your wisdom! Wish me, and the bird, luck!

Good Luck! and anything has to be better than what she's living in now.

Good luck Mare!! I hope you can get her out of there, even if it's just long enough to get her to a rescue or find her a suitable home. And know that we are all here for you however you need us to be!! Anything is better for that bird than what we've seen via those pictures.

Poor girl :( If I had a job and if I didn't live with my nieces(young and would try to pet her) I would totally adopt her. It breaks my heart to see the condition. It's a good thing this bird is still young, they sound like uneducated and probably feed her a terrible diet that would give her major problems if she was older.

Thank you MareMiller for considering her (I know you have been thinking about a macaw lately...fate?). If you can handle Mr. Amigo I'm sure you'll be fine with her. She probably just needs someone with patience. ANY bird would LOVE it at your place. Who knows, maybe Amigo will calm down a little with a feathered flock member.

I wish I could help. But I'm across the country. I really hope someone takes that poor thing out of that situation! So sad!
