Cages finally

Very nicely made!!!!! What materials did you use???

Do you have any wood perches? I would think metal would get too hot and/or too cold. I know here in Houston they'd burn their little feet in the summer.

Yeah GREAT cages. But some natural wood ...the softer trees for upper perches and varied ones down lower.
I use ONLY Paper Bark and Banksia . The Paper bark is wonderful even if they chew all the bark off the wood itself is soft.:green2: there some ideas at this site.http://www.eclectusparrots.net/safeplants.html

Umar, your birds look so happy in their new house! Will you be adding other bits and pieces as time goes on? My Beaks like to chew on wooden things, so I always have a supply of branches and wood offcuts for them to work on. They also like to chomp on plastic things, so I collect plastic bottle tops for them. I drill holes in the bottle tops and thread them on wire or string. When I hang them, the Beaks go to work chewing them to bits! LOL!

The eucalyptus trees are in bud and flower right now and I'd really like to get some branches with buds and leaves and blossoms on them. Sadly, I haven't been able to find any that I can reach! Drat! I know Barney and Madge would love to chomp on eucalyptus blossoms and I will get some very soon! Another thing the Beaks like is plastic baby toys: the sort you give when they're teething. I find that when they have a lot of things to be chewing and tearing up, the Beaks are a lot happier and less likely to call (scream) for me.

Yesterday, Madge was flying in my kitchen and got confused. She came to land on my dog's bottom!!! Now, my dog is a very old girl and gets quite angry when people touch her bottom because she has arthritis and gets pain there. When Madge landed, the dog just turned her head, saw that it was a big green bird and turned back again to go to sleep. Meanwhile, we were all having a heart attack, thinking Alice (the dog) would grab Madge and kill her! I think Alexandrines are the cleverest and funniest of all the parrots. But then, I am biased. :)

Do you have a celebration or festive season at the end of the year in Pakistan? We're about to celebrate Christmas here in Australia and it's traditional to send good wishes to friends and family at this time. So I would like to send my best wishes to you. I hope you and your family will have a prosperous and pleasant 2014 and look forward to many more pictures of your birds and your lovely gardens. :)

Oh yes i give them some wood pieces to chew as Alexandrines like to chew wood.It also keeps the beaks in order.I use to give them some Eucalyptus branches, some times blocks of poplar wood. They enjoy chewing wood all the time.I don,t give them plastic toys cause i always have the fear that may be its harmful for the parrots.I use wooden perches for other birds but for parrots like Alexandrines & African grays i use metal perches. They easily chew & end the wooden perches.Yes its very right that metal rodes get cold in winter & hot in the summers thats why for other birds wooden perches i use.

O but for parrots like Alexandrines & African grays i use metal perches. They easily chew & end the wooden perches..

That is what the wood is there for... hahaha

They love chewing wood, i think all us parrot owners can say alot of perches have been destroyed, because it is fun for them and keeps them entertained!

Replacing wooden branches are completely free...

So they need some natural wooden perches, even if they do chew them ;)

They chew trees in the wild  There are no metal trees in the wild that they sit on

14 gauge mesh net.Tab i use metal material coated with zinc as zinc don,t allow rust. All the cages are made of Metal material even for the other birds which are not chewers.Actually metal cages has long life. For grays i use 10 gauge.Hey birds are so pretty creation of God.

Umar, thanks again for the lovely pics! The church is beautiful! Do you know what kind of pine tree that is? It looks like a Norfolk Island Pine, which is a popular Christmas tree here in Australia. People buy them in pots for Christmas and then plant them outside in the New Year. They often get a shock at how very big these trees can grow! LOL!

My Mum loves poinsettia, but I'm afraid I don't. I used to mow the lawns for Mum and her poinsettias would drop their sticky sap all over me. Yuck! Pretty flowers, though. We're having a heat-wave at the moment, and it's hard keeping my plants well-watered and cool enough. I water in the mornings and evenings and put lots and lots of sugar-cane chaff down to keep the moisture in the soil. Still, many of my plants are very dry and having a hard time of it. Funnily, the rose bushes cope OK - it's just the flowers that dry up in the awful heat.

My birds are also very hot and I've been spraying them with water and hanging wet towels over the cages. If the heat doesn't improve, I'll start putting blocks of ice in the cages so the birds can get some relief. Both the Beaks love chewing ice, so I have to be careful not to make it too accessible to them (it sticks to their tongues when it's very cold). :)
