Hello all, I'm new here. I'm planning on soon getting a new parakeet to add to my family..:)
I'm still trying to find a good place for the cage I have and I thought maybe in my room. But I thought since I use a noise machine, it may disturb his/hers sleep. Any suggestions? Thanks

For most birds putting them where you spend the most time is the best bet.

The noise shouldn't bother them. I have the tv on all night often and it doesn't bother anyone here. If there is any constant bright light I put a cover over just that side of the cage so it doesn't mess up their sleep.

Agreeing with Mimsy.
Those noises shouldn't be a problem.
Here's my thought on the goodness of having a separate area, like a second bedroom, if possible. Ever since the Rickeybird hit sexual maturity at about 3 years of age, I've had to manage his hormones! If kept on too steady a long day, and too much light, he stayed "in the mood" (aggressive, even louder than usual, pleasuring himself on my neck :/ ) year round. If I keep him on a natural light schedule... up with dawn, down with dusk, year around... he's only a little monster rooster from July to September). He has his own room, so I can do that easily. He's out most of the day with me, but goes to bed on schedule. But that may be no issue for you.
Good luck, and glad you're here!
