normal male gcc-Morpheus,
cinnamon female gcc-Meeka,
(Meeka and Morpheus are a pair and are parents of Shyra)
-Since it's that time of year for my gcc pair (Meeka and Morpheus) I need a different way to give them food, water, and to actually let them out sometimes without the worry of having my (or other's) hands 'eaten' by them guarding the cage. I would like to get them a new cage with feeder doors and such but it seems all the sizes that would be equal to what they have now(or bigger) would be either too expensive or bar spacing is too wide.
-so either:
_ a)modify my current cage somehow?
__ 1)change the 'feeder' doors it currently has.
__ 2)change the door hinge.
__ 3)make a seed guard.
_ b)accept that their cage will have to be downsized a bit to get what I need?

-Then there is Shyra's (gcc) cage, although she doesn't need anything but a seed guard really, I don't know if I should get her a new cage too if I go ahead and get Meeka and Morpheus a new cage. But then again I would have to downsize to get what I want.
-so just a seed guard for her?

-Oh and then if I do get new cages, I was thinking about puttting their old cages together to make one big one for outside use?

-The pic is what they currently have: image.jpg (It's Meeka and Morpheus's cage as you can see but Shyra has the same one too)
they are one of these [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00176F5L0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1402962757&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40]Prevue Pet Products Wrought Iron Flight Cage with Stand F040 Black Bird Cage, 31-Inch by 20-1/2-Inch by 53-Inch:Amazon:pet Supplies[/ame]

-Thanks for reading, here I go again with too many ideas

I'd suggest a breeder cage..with feeder doors, and maybe just switch them there all the time. I've seen these for $150 in various places, and they have narrow bars, feeder doors, etc.

- I've considered other breeder/flight cages too but would like a seed guard and haven't found any that have one. Otherwise that cage has the better main door and feeder doors I'm looking for.

I have the same cage you have, and was wondering if you could use a couple of the side nesting box doors to put their food and water through?

-I use the JW Pet Company Clean Cups and they are just a hair too tall for the doors. I would like to keep using them because they lock into place and have a hood. This is how it's set up currently image.jpg so I still use the doors but the cups aren't on the doors itself. Maybe I just need to get cups that'll actually fit? Although I hate to not use what the have now.

-I was thinking highest price around $400 but prefer cheaper. But now I'm thinking of just modifying their current cages to what I need so I don't have to downsize their space.

I used to own one of those and I hated those cups... to me they were annoying to keep clean and any grooves harbored bacteria easier since it's plastic. I'm not sure why you need a hood?

The double cage I use has a bar across the top of the food and water to hold it in place. But if it is easier to convert your current cage why not? I just tend to like the cages with the doors and such since they look nicer and it is easier to me:)

-I like the hoods because it keeps them from pooping in their food/water and helps keep more food in the cup when they dig through it.
-Could you show me a pic of your feeder doors? I'm visual and it would help me and from the link I cant tell how the feeder doors are like ;)
