Cage Advice Sought for New Addition

Hi,

We're in the process of adopting a young CAG from rescue. Before he comes home we want to do our due dilligence regarding an appropriate cage. We probably have at least a month before we need a cage, so if we need to order one from the Lower 48 we still have time.

We already own a large (42Wx26Dx64H) Puna Paradise Hybrid cage from Birdcagesforless.com) that was originally purchased for our Senegal. We downsized the Senegal's cage because it seemed like such overkill.

The cage is still in nearly new condition. Our only concern, other than it possibly not being a top quality product, is that the bar spacing is only 5/8". Do you think this would be OK for a CAG?

Thanks,
Kevin

That cage should do fine for a grey! My only concern is the open top feature that can be deadly if not kept locked when closed, or held open by something other than the perch.

Welcome to the forum:)

That Cage is absolutely perfect for a Grey. It has everything you could want.

Good point!

There is a latch to keep the dome doors closed, but I'm going to have to figure out a means to keep it open.

Anyone have any ideas on how to do that?

One owner used bungie cords... don't know how well that would work for a larger parrot that could possibly destroy the cord!

I don't know if something like a bolt might do the trick... or a latch of some kind? A parrot safe hook? Or rather one that closes tight like the ones you find on toys?
