Riffraff is settling in really well and eating every fruit and vegetable I offer - except carrot, we donā€™t like carrot. Iā€™ve been doing lots of research on seed mix, acceptable fruit and veggies etc. and I am coming across conflicting info about cabbage. Some sites say no cabbage, others say itā€™s ok. It seems that a number of people in the forum feed cabbage but Iā€™m wondering if there is cabbage which is ok and some which is not? Probably a dumb question but Iā€™d rather be absolutely sure. Thank you!

This is a combination of subjective vs objective opinions. Objective is that green and red cabbage according to vets, is safe for parrots. The but is that compared to other veggies it is less nutritionally dense compared to other green leafy veggies. So it's better to feed something else. The subjective part is many parrot parents notice problems feeding cabbage. Cabbage is high in fiber that can cause digestive problems in man and beast. So again feeding other green leafy veggies is recommended.

That's normal with the information overload we're bombarded with. I research, examine, compare and rinse & repeat information for my pets. Information approved yesterday is taboo today and vice versa. Then there's objective, subjective and just because opinions. I tend to be cautious because unlike humans, pets can't complain. Symptom identifyers are based on observation and and knowledge.

Thank you! I appreciate the information- makes such good sense. I think safe is better than sorry! So cabbage is off my list. Itā€™s not that there arenā€™t tons of other good veggies to offer! I just love this forum! Iā€™m excited to go shopping to make some chop supplies as well šŸ˜

There's several chop recipes here. My CAG was a hit or miss chop eater. I've tried several recipes over the years. Found a recipe here that fit her preferences. The result is a CAG who can't wait to dive beak first into it!
