I've came to realize that at 11-12 dollars for a small bag of seed or pellet (that's $22.00) for a small mix... I'm wasting a lot of money with 7 birds. I can afford it, but I'd like to have some extra money for toys and goodies.

For any of you who have multiple birds and buy in bulk, what website do you use?

Have you tried looking up the companies that make the food you use, and seeing if you can find it online for cheaper? Or, you could ask the pet store if they could special order larger portions for you.

I don't have multiple birds, but I just ordered food and toys for River from mysafebirdstore.com and they have really good prices. It's definately cheaper to buy larger bags. Harrisons $8 for one pound compared for $27 for 5 pounds. I also always buy my dog/cat food in the bigger bags for a better price. I got the harrisons, some roudybush, and two toys. It's due to arrive tomorrow and I can't wait! Waiting for package, is like waiting for Christmas as a kid! lol.

well I dont know if you have bird fairs around you or not but we do and I notice there is usually a vendor there who has huge bags of food and he also advertises the fact that you can come to his store and he will mix it for you the way you want and he carries all the brand names . His store is a little far for me though cause he is in cincy ohio which is about 55 miles south of me and I cant justify 110 miles round trip . anyways just thought maybe you could contact a privately owned pet store or feed store and they might just mix it for you . Good luck .

I get Zupreem fruit blend at Petsmart in 12 lb bags for about $44. I have a small container that holds about a week of food, and store the rest in the freezer.

Thanks guys! I found a site where I can literally feed my birds for a year for around $110. Compared to the almost $400 I'm spending now. I think I will definitely use that container idea that you suggested HRH Di!

What are some of your guys favorite brands of seed btw?

I emailed Harrisons and Roudybush and they both sent me samples. River really likes both, some I'm going to switch him to a mix of the two. :)

Just saw that said favorite seed, not pellets lol. I give River Nutriberries for seed treat. :)

Good Idea! I have quite a bit of food coming, and plan to keep it in the freezer, but like the idea of keeping a smaller continer out in the fridge where it will be easier to get to. The freezer can get so full! lol. I really need to get a little chest freezer one of these days.

Yeah no problem, here is the link (I hope we're allowed to share links).
Bird Paradise Shopping Cart Then you click on the bulk food section. The ground shipping is free too. I can't wait to have extra money for toys ;)

I have been doing a lot of mixing it up when it comes to pellets. Just tried Harrisons. WAY to much money for such a tiny amount. I have been buying pellets that are on sale and rotating them. One day they get one kind, the next a different kind. My parrots eat any pellet I give them... expect the purple zupreem pellets... No one touches those. ;)

My birds will eat any seed I give them, but they love their rainbow pellet. I think almost every one of my birds leaves a different color behind except one pair of Lovebirds that will eat anything and everything.
