Every time I go into the pet store, I go and see if these two little ones are there.
without fail, they are, flying back and forth, back and forth, like they don't know what else to do.
they are the tiniest little birds, and I thought they were cute.
they had been at the store 'forever', and I couldn't stand it anymore!!.....so I brought them home :)
one is a Male St.Helena Waxbill, the other is a female gold breasted waxbill.
just 3.5-4" in length, only weighing...(get this!)....5-9 grams!!

when we removed the St.Helena bird first, he dropped his tail:(....all his feathers fell to the floor, so he's tailless, but still beautiful.

Now I have them here, and I can't wait to see how beautiful they are going to be in a few months, as of right now they could look a lot better!!... of course I'm totally going to spoil them with food, ha ha

Oh my goodness they are precious! They were still there because they were waiting for you! Now they are home!

so, I had to move them. my star finches didn't care for them much

which turned out even better, so I did some more bird re-arranging in the bedroom, and now they are in front of our patio door getting natural light, which I'm sure they haven't seen in eons!

they now have: good quality finch seed w/kelp added to it
egg food for protein
crushed egg shell for calcium
iodine drops in their water
broccoli, cauliflower, corn, peas, carrots, brown cooked rice, sweet peppers, sweet potato in a separate dish

so I took some more pics :D...oh I forgot to mention timothy hay for nesting :)

Gilbert is 'friends' with a couple wax bills! My best friend has them and he always flies over to look in their cage.
