My amazon is extremely playful and he doesn't care to groom himself. I often have to ask the female to groom him. Lately I've noticed that since he likes to climb up his cage backwards (his back is towards the corner and his feet to the side) he rubs his wings quite a bit to the point it kind of looks like he's getting a bold spot.
The avian vet said I shouldn't worry because he's not rubbing them off, he's just ruining them when he plays and to allow him to continue.
Has anyone else seen their amazon do anything similar?
He doesn't spend much time in his cage, it's just for sleeping, eating and when they want to go outside. He is kept in a separate cage from the female, but in the afternoons he likes to go in her cage for dinner and to sleep.
