Skittles - scarlet macaw
Wow, my daughter was able to hold Skittles today.

Mollie has been dying to hold Skittles since we we got her in May. Up until today, Skittles always tries to nip her when she gets too close. I guess taking Skittles to the park every weekend and holding her head while I let others pet her is paying off. She is getting a lot more tolerant of other people.

Happy day!

Great news Tom!!!! :D What a brilliant step! They are both wearing red ;) haha

Definitely getting her out socialising with new people has helped :)

My mum couldn't pat Fargo when i first got him, but when he started going out on his harness, and meeting strangers, he accepted mum !

Did skittles like her Christmas gift? Pics??

Well... No, I called up the company on Thursday and they said that since they are custom made, they take about 6 weeks, and because of Christmas and New Years, it may take an extra week...

So now it looks like it may be the 2nd week in January. I will definitely post when it gets here.

That is what I am hoping. Skittles has bitten my wife twice and I really need for her to start accepting "mum"... ;)

The person who abused Skittles was female so that may explain a few of the attacks, but it is sure great to see Skittles warming up to other people. This is really going to ease the situation at home. My wife is very understanding, but after two bad bites, I can understand her concern...

Skittles is beautiful!!!!! I'm glad she's accepting other people. Willie is hard to convince as I've taken him outside countless times but he hates being outside for some reason???? Lola is easy going, she would accept people before Willie does.....

haha yep....the red shirt did it. She should have worn one back in May and everything would have been magically fixed. :D

Wow Chesphoto! I was JUST in your fair city for the very first time. I am like you in taking my birds to the park, meeting people. My Scarlet Clifford would bite everyone, but I have hope to reform him if I can find brave souls for the test. Cliff wants to be pinchy even to me, but he seldom draws my blood. I was at the Arizona Bird Store in Mesa on Dobson Rd. and saw another bird store coming from the Sky Harbor airport behind a Salvation Army store. One would think a town the size of my Jacksonville Florida would have at least ONE bird store.... no dice. If you want a bird here you have to find a breeder or go to our rare armory birdmart. I certainly enjoyed myself in Arizona; visiting Organ Stop Pizza, the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Goldfield Mine, Rawhide, and South Mountain.

Hey Alwese,

Seeing all of your photos of you taking your birds to the beach gave me the inspiration to do try the same with Skittles. No beaches here, but the parks and the outdoor malls work. Thanks!

Sounds like you had a great trip and hit a lot of the key sights. Sedona is definitely one of my favorite places. It is a photo op every place you look. Next time you come out to Arizona, let me know. I love to meet you and talk birds. :)

Tom
